Basketball Movies * Recommended Titles Campus Confessions (1938)… William Henry, Betty Grable, Thurston Hall, Fritz Feld, John Arledge, Lane Chandler, Roy Gordon, Matty Kemp. Silly Hollywood college film noted for the appearance of Hank Luisetti, generally credited as the inventor of the one-handed shot in basketball. Luisetti appeared after graduation from Stanford University. He also was voted the second most influential basketball player (behind George Mikan) in the first half of the 20th century. The Harlem Globetrotters (1951)… Thomas Gomez, Dorothy Dandridge, Bill Walker, Angela Clarke. Young Bill Townsend drops out of college to join the famous independent Trotter team. He also finds romance along the way. "Goose" Tatum and fancy dribbler Marcus Haynes were the star players of the Globetrotters at the time and Abe Saperstein was the owner. Tatum, Haynes, Babe Presley, Ermer Robinson, Duke Cumberland, Clarence Wilson, Pop Gates, Frank Washington, Ted Strong and other current team members appear in the film as themselves. Also featured is a lot of actual game footage (three times against the Celtics with Tony Lavelli and Big Bob Hahn) including their famous "Sweet Georgia Brown" warm-up routine. [Along with making the film, the team toured Major League Baseball stadiums that year and went on their first tour of South America.] Go, Man, Go (1954)…

W e met almost 9 years ago after being setup on a blind date by Bob's sister, and have been happily married seven wonderful years. Our first eight years of marriage have been filled with learning more about each other and falling more deeply in love. We are best friends and cherish the time we have together. As a couple, our greatest obstacle has been our infertility. We realize that adoption is not a second choice but rather a second chance for us to be parents. We long to share our many blessings, and experience the wonder of life through the eyes of a child.
J ennifer is an elementary school teacher. She loves children and believes that an education is one of the best gifts that you can give a child. Jennifer loves her students and adores all her nieces and nephews. She loves to read and share the joy of learning. She plans to stay home full-time to raise our children. Jennifer shares Bob's love of sports and outdoor activities. Her hobbies include tennis, golf, hiking, bike riding, music and planning the family vacations.

Saturday, February 16, 2002 Bob Huggins If it's UC or W.Va., he'll stay

By Tim Sullivan
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Bob Huggins doesn't strike you as the sentimental sort. If he's ever been made misty in his time at the University of Cincinnati, it must have been allergies. If he ever leaves, a hankering for home would seem to be low on the list of probable causes. On the face of it, the new basketball vacancy at West Virginia should not worry Bearcats fans nearly so much as the ongoing threat of an opportunity in the NBA. West Virginia might be Huggins' alma mater, but it is only a lateral move in terms of geography. A good coach might win there, but he probably wouldn't win big. Morgantown is not exactly Mecca, and its small-town sensibilities could be a hard sell in urban recruiting. Since 1988, only one West Virginia player has been deemed worthy of an NBA draft choice. Bob Huggins surely would raise the program's profile, but he'd be hard-pressed to change the state's demographics.

Latest: Monday September 11, 2000 03:57 PM Isiah Thomas: "I would love for (Bobby Knight) to mentor me the way Tex Winter was for Phil Jackson." AP DETROIT (Ticker) Isiah Thomas helped deposed Indiana coach Bob Knight win a national championship in 1981. Now he wants the legendary college coach to help him win an NBA title with the Indiana Pacers Thomas told WDFN Radio Monday that he would like to hire Knight, who was fired by Indiana University on Sunday after a legendary but turbulent 29-year career at the school. “Well, he's welcome to sit on my bench at any time,” Thomas said during a news conference at his own charity golf tournament. “I would love for him to mentor me the way Tex Winter was for Phil Jackson. The genius that he has to give is strategically unmatched.” When asked if that meant Thomas would formally offer Knight an assistant's job with the Pacers, he said, “I would definitely offer him a job, yes.”

News-Herald Correspondent Kenston sophomore Terry Love hit a pair of crucial free throws and scored a personal-high 12 points last night as the Kenston Bombers defeated Twinsburg, 48-46, in overtime at Kenston. It was the third straight victory for the Bombers (10-6, 4-4). All three wins during the streak have been against Western Reserve Conference opponents. Kenston's Bobby Dubovec hit a driving lay-up as regulation time expired to tie the score at 43 and force overtime. In the extra session, senior guard Sean Marks buried a 3-pointer, and Love hit two free throws with less than a minute to play to give the Bombers a three-point lead at 48-45.

57. News - Jerry Stackhouse
A guy like bob Johnson may have a vast knowledge industry but that doesn't necessarilytranslate over to basketball. People really love basketball in Charlotte
http://www.jerrystackhouse.com/news/journal1.html
Basketball's Back in Charlotte
First of all, I'd like to say hello to all of my fans. I hope you all are enjoying my new site. I've had it designed just for you. In case you were wondering, I am doing fine. My team is playing well, we've won 3 games in a row. We have a couple of tough games coming up at San Antonio and Dallas. We are one win from being a .500 team again. Other than basketball, I am still working hard on getting my Triple Threat Foundation off of the ground. Keep checking my site in the next couple of weeks to see updates on that and other projects that I am doing in North Carolina. Speaking of North Carolina, I really think it's great that there's going to be pro basketball back there again and it never should have left in the first place, in my opinion. Let's face it — everyone knows about the history of hoops in the state. The decision to make Bob Johnson the first black majority owner in pro sports was a great move and his knowledge of entertainment as the founder of BET (Black Entertainment Television) should be good for the city of Charlotte and the game as a whole. I would love to someday get the opportunity to have a position in upper management, myself. An ownership position would be great because it would give me the opportunity to be around the game after I'm done. Every player wants that chance and I think this is a huge step for African-Americans. For so long we've just been participants and players and now we seem to finally have the opportunity for ownership. This is just another sign of how far we've come to and proves that there's nothing we can't do.
