Forgive the Philadelphia Flyers if they felt like trumpeting Boucher after just his rookie season. After all, in 1999-00, Boucher broke long-standing records and led the Flyers to within a game of the Stanley Cup Finals. Drafted in the first round (22nd overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Boucher became the first NHL rookie goaltender since 1950-51 to play more than 25 games and finish with a goals-against average below 2.00. That season Boucher also started 18 playoff games, posting an 11-7 record and 2.03 GAA. The following playoff year, Boucher made 57 saves in a five-overtime 2-1 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Boucher was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes after the 2001-02 season. Pete Iorizzo Season Team GMS MIN W L T GA SO Avg Flyers Flyers Flyers Coyotes NHL Totals

WEIGHT: 180-190 lbs.
UNIFORM #:
CATCHES: Left
HIGH SCHOOL: Mount St. Charles (Woonsocket, RI), Kamiakan (Kennewick, WA)
JUNIOR TEAM: Tri-City Americans WHL.
STYLE:
STRENGTHS: Aggressive with the stick; using it to keep the front of his net clear, protect the side-net passing lanes and throwing the occasional poke-check. Sound footwork and good balance. Does not waste any movement. Recovers well after falling for a deke, and never quits on the play.
WEAKNESSES: Tries to do too much in passing and shooting the puck.
HIS MASK: "It's two fighter pilots in the cockpit of a plane. They've got a mean smirk and goggles as in the old days. The plane's going down the side with bullet holes in it. I didn't know what to do; I didn't know what the word Flyer meant, so I talked to the painter. Phlly is best known for cheesesteak but I don't think I could put a cheesesteak on my mask." The following are each National Hockey League's organizational rankings of goaltenders, as rated by The Hockey News' selection of scouts. Ratings listed to the left of the player are their ranking within the organization's top ten. A ranking in parenthesis indicates that a player is rated in THN's overall Top Fifty for the year. ANAHEIM BOSTON John Grahame : Big and mobile, the second-year pro's record-setting AHL season (18 consecutive wins through March 5) will almost surely earn him a legitimate shot in Boston next season - especially if backup Rob Tallas is lost in the expansion draft. "It looks like he has one all he can down there," [Boston assistant general manager Mike] O'Connell said. BUFFALO Martin Biron : Biron got the call to Buffalo after Hasek went down with a strained groin. He has seen limited action, but still appears to be on track for an NHL career. Biron, who plays a butterfly style, was the American League player of the month in Feburary with five shutouts and was selected as the starting goaltender for the Canadian stars in the AHL All-Star Game. Before joining the Sabres he led the AHL in wins (25), shutouts (6) and was among the league leaders in goals-against average (1.92), minutes (2,280), saves (1,134) and save percentage (.936). Mika Noronen : The Finnish stopper had a sluggish performance at the 1999 WJC, one year after guiding his nation to a gold medal. "He's the sole reason why Finland won in 1998 and he has a proven track record in other top tournaments, so I'm not going to let one bad performance change my opinion of him," one scout said. "He'll be a No. 1 goalie in the NHL."

Men's Hockey Finishes Third in ECAC After Win At Union
"We worked hard all season long and this is a testament to the team's dedication and determination," head coach Bob Gaudet said. "This was a great team victory tonight against a very solid Union team."
With the score knotted at one, Stempniak took a Mike Ouellette feed just inside the Union blueline and roofed a perfect shot over the glove of goaltender Kris Mayotte for the gamewinning goal.
Stempniak's goal came just 50 seconds after Union tied the game.
"It was a very positive shift after giving up the goal against," Gaudet said. "Lee made a great shot on that play."
The Dutchmen had tied the game at the 3:24 of the third period when Jason Vissier chipped a rebound past Big Green goalie Nick Boucher. Brian Kerr and Brian Kominar each assisted on the goal.
Dartmouth (17-11-0, 13-9-0 ECAC) finally solved Mayotte after 98:04 of scoreless hockey this season.
Dave Thompson sent a puck in deep to the Dutchmen zone and Kent Gillings picked up the loose puck and fed Jarrett Sampson in front for the one-timer that beat Mayotte. The goal was Sampson's eighth of the year and first in three games.
Union (14-16-4, 10-10-2 ECAC) held the advantage in shots on goal, 34-24. Boucher made 33 saves while Mayotte stopped 22 shots in the game.
