Kelly Chase plays professional hockey for the St. Louis Blues of the N.H.L. He was born in Porcupine Plain Saskatchewan. Kelly plays right wing, and also shoots right.
The St. Louis Blues signed Kelly as a free agent on May 24, 1988. He played his first professional season with Peoria of the IHL in 1988-89, scoring 14 goals and seven assists. Kelly spent parts of the next two seasons with Peoria, as well. He made his NHL debut 11/9/89 against Montreal (STL 1 vs MTL 1). Kelly recorded his first assist 11/23/89 against Winnipeg (STL 5 at WPG 2) and his first goal 1/23/90 against Detroit (STL 6 at DET 3).
That year Kelly also lead the team with 244 penalty minutes in only 43 games. In his career Kelly has acquired at least 200 penalty minutes during six of his 10 NHL seasons. He totaled 278 penalty minutes in 1993-94, a St. Louis record for a right wing in a single season. On November 14, 1992 Kelly played his 100th career game against Winnipeg. He played his 200th game on March 18, 1994 at Toronto and appeared in his 400th career NHL game against Colorado on December 4, 1998. Kelly surpassed the 1,800 career NHL penalty minute plateau in his 405th game in 1998-99. Kelly alsoestablished a new NHL career high in assists (7) and points (10) in 1998-99. He ranks 2nd on the Blues' all-time penalty minute list, trailing Brian Sutter (1,786).

MALONE — It was quite a weekend for the Saranac hockey team, most notably goaltender Caleb White. White, following up on a 40-save performance the night before in a 3-1 win over the hosts, turned away 26 shots Saturday as the Chiefs won the Malone Winter Tournament with a shootout victory over Lake Placid. White was chosen as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Matt McCormick and Dan Joyce scored in the shootout to give the Chiefs (7-9-2) a 2-0 win after the two teams had battled to a 1-all draw through regulation and overtime. The Chiefs took a 1-0 lead at 12:49 of the second period on Robert Alexander’s goal. The Blue Bombers, however, forced overtime at 10:09 of the third on Sean Mihill’s unassisted goal. Chris Lambertsen made 16 saves for Lake Placid (13-2-4), which had earlier this season won the Middlebury High School Tournament in a shootout. Consolation: Malone 5, Chicopee 3 The host Huskies scored five goals in the second period to rally past Chicopee, Mass.

BOSTON Gordie Howe once described hockey as "a man's game." But how many NHL players have the guts to do what Howard Bloom is doing right now? In a tightly packed locker room that holds the smell of sweat as effectively as any little glass bottle contains perfume, the goalkeeper for the Boston Lobsters stands up and begins undressing himself before a gay man. Not just one gay man but a room full of homosexuals, who are also getting naked. That's what hockey players do after games. They get clean. They drop their clothes, go into the shower, lather up, towel off and get dressed again. All the while talking great goals, and maybe, the bars they're going to hit later. It's a ritual older than the building that houses this locker room, Matthews Arena, where the NHL's Bruins played before moving into the Boston Garden. Bloom, a straight, married player on a gay hockey team, exists in a world turned inside out. It's a world beyond the imagination, and desire, of many straight athletes, who suspect they would be looked at in a sexual manner by gay teammates.
