in the Off Season
We decided to give you, our beloved readers, a glimpse behind the scenes of your favorite reality show, "The Real Rink." The new fall season is still a couple of months away, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t excitement going on as we plan production. An Emmy Nomination for Puck For one thing, the cast and crew of the show was thrilled to learn that Puck has been nominated for an Emmy for "Best Villain in a Reality Show." We were able to track him down while on vacation in Wisconsin Dells to get his reaction to this terrific honor. "Needless to say, I’m thrilled," said Puck, taking a break from riding the Ducks (the Dells Ducks, not the Mighty Ducks). "To be nominated in the same field as the guy who killed the wild pig on ‘Survivor’ is an honor I never expected. I know I’m a longshot, but to lose to a guy like that, who’s even made headlines on Yahoo, there’s no shame in that." Even more remarkable is the fact that the Emmys would recognize a show about hockey in any capacity. Said "Real Rink" co-star Jodie, "If it weren’t for that time some hockey players appeared in a bar on ‘Ally McBeal,’ we’d be the only show on U.S. television which has mentioned the game in the past three years. Frankly, that the Emmys would notice us at all comes as a total shock."

That deal followed a Sunday night trade in which the Penguins got defenseman Shawn Heins from the San Jose Sharks, also for a conditional draft pick. One of the Penguins' top defensemen during their unexpected run to the Eastern Conference finals in 2001, Ference has had consecutive disappointing seasons. The 23-year Ference has one goal and two assists in 23 games this season after getting four goals and seven assists in 75 games last season. He has 11 goals, 24 assists and 157 penalty minutes in 163 NHL games, all with Pittsburgh. email this print this Find a Job ... and more...

The Latest hockeyfights.com original 2003 Playoff Preview: Conference Quarterfinals
4/7/2003 - David M Singer
The playoffs are back and it's time to look over some history, some stats and make a few predictions. The Wild are making their first playoff appearence as Minnesota is happy to see more hockey (playoffs and a Frozen Four team, good time for the MN fans). Tampa Bay had a strong start that's not only led to a playoff spot, but a division championship. The New York Ranger$ are home again after a big playoff push started too late in the season to capture that last spot. So many changes, and yet so few, no? Let's break it down...
