Finally Eric Lindros has been traded. I checked weather.com and hell has not frozen over. Thank you Bobby Clarke for doing us all a favor and trading Lindros. I don't think there is a hockey fan this side of the Atlantic Ocean that isn't tired of listening to Clarke spout off his discontent for Lindros and his family. Basically I am plain tired of hearing of Eric Lindros. Sure he was hard on Clarke demanding to be traded only to the Leafs or a handful of teams. Yes his father was a pain in the butt to Clarke but his father is his agent and agents are not always easy to get along with especially during holdouts. Ask Ottawa GM Marshall Johnston how he likes Mark Gandler.

Hockey chief rejects Russia's complaint about referees
Associated Press WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah International hockey's governing body angrily rejected claims by the Russian coach that a referee cost his team a chance to win the gold medal. Rene Fasel, head of the ice hockey federation, defended the officiating at the Salt Lake City Olympics, saying today it was "of the highest possible level." After his team lost 3-2 to the United States in the semifinals Friday, coach Slava Fetisov criticized the referee and said a Canada-United States gold-medal game was intended all along. "The referee's decisions were not the reason why Russia lost," Fasel said. Fetisov, however, said Canada and the United States got an unfair advantage under an agreement requiring NHL referees in games in which players from the league make up 50 percent of the rosters. Bill McCreary of Canada was the referee for the Russia-U.S. game and also will work the Canada-U.S. game Sunday. The other NHL referees in Salt Lake City are Stephen Walkom and Dennis LaRue, both of the United States.

TORONTO -
When the Coyotes' flight landed here and the team boarded a bus to whisk it to a hotel, an airline employee sprinted from the plane, carrying a compact disc one of the players had left behind.
He gave it to coach Bobby Francis.
''Kid Rock! Who left a Kid Rock CD on the plane?" Francis barked.
Defenseman Danny Markov made his way to the front of the bus to retrieve the CD and thanked the coach.
''I should have known," Francis said, smiling. ''It has blood stains on it."
Francis was joking, but then again, the way the 25-year-old Markov has shown his willingness to shed blood for the Coyotes this season, you just never know. He should be a pitchman for the Red Cross. You've seen the ''Give Blood, Play Hockey" T-shirt. Well, they ought to put a picture of Markov's face on the front of it. ''He exemplifies everything a hockey player should be about," Francis said. ''I can't say enough about the guy."

KAC FANTASY HOCKEY (11/25/02)

Tarnstrom goes from unhearlded to an anomaly...
W
hen Mario Lemieux appeared healthy and was making noises on playing every game during the exhibition season, he became a near no-brain selection for CDM Fantasy Hockey. And with an amazing 41 points in just 20 games, Mario has actually managed to succeed those lofty expectations. Lemieux is on pace to pile up 166 points. By contrast, Jerome Iginla won last years scoring title with only 96 points. Obviously, as Mario goes through the roof, the value of his linemates goes up as well. From the start it has made sense to have the services of Alex Kovalev (12 goals, 26 points). After a red-hot first week, many jumped in the pool for Aleksey Morozov (23 points) and his 1860 salary. Now back from injury, Martin Straka (2560) is now a good value as well with eight points in his first nine games. But then you see the name of Dick Tarnstrom show up constantly on the Penguin stat sheet (4/17/21 in just 19 games) – and then realize he’s a defenseman!!!!! Exactly, who is Dick Tarnstrom? When did he become the second coming of Bobby Orr? And where is he on the CDM Player List? Don’t look too hard, you will not find him. Also do not look too hard on the Penguins roster in THN’s pre-season magazine, for you won’t find Dick there neither. Now look at the New York Islanders pre-season depth chart, where you will see Dick listed as the Isle’s #7 defenseman. That’s #7 defenseman, which is exactly like landing on the #5 line on offense. That usually means a lot of nights either in the press box as a healthy scratch, or logging a lot of ice time with the AHL affiliate. Or it could mean being placed on waivers, which was Dick’s lucky break on August 21 when NYI let him go and was promptly snapped up by the Pens.
