TORONTO - An article in a recent issue of Sports Illustrated magazine explored the mystique of the relationship between pro hockey and Toronto. Ottawa might be the capital of Canada, but it's widely accepted that Toronto is the center of hockey's universe. SI contends that the Maple Leafs carry themselves that way, even though they haven't won a Stanley Cup in 35 years. The Leafs got off to a slow start this season and have been hearing it from their demanding fans.

Avs’ trade could impact Bears
Colorado obtained Chris McAllister from the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday, a move that might result in either Bryan Muir or D.J. Smith being assigned to Hershey.
By DAVE SOTTILE Daily Record staff Thursday, February 6, 2003
HERSHEY — A Wednesday deal between the Colorado Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers could possibly impact the Hershey Bears’ defense corps for the remainder of the AHL season. The emergence of Jim Vandermeer in Philadelphia made Chris McAllister expendable, so the Flyers swapped the 27-year-old defenseman to the Avs in exchange for a sixth-round pick in this June’s NHL Entry Draft.
