Where Are They Now? Vol. 1 - No. 5 Author: Scott Sypien March 2002 Wendell Young As the final seconds of the 1998 International Hockey League season counted down hockey history was made. The Chicago Wolves won the IHL's Turner Cup championship and Wendell Young became the first player in hockey history to win the Stanley Cup, Turner Cup, Calder Cup, and Memorial Cup in the span of ones career. Wendell's hockey path started in 1981 when he was drafted in the 3rd round by the Vancouver Canucks. In his 10 years in the NHL he saw action in Vancouver, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Tampa Bay. Most of those years Young spent as the Pittsburgh Penguins backup goaltender. As a Penguin, Young received two Stanley Cup rings. He also had the honor of being the winning goalie in Philadelphia when the Pens broke the curse of the Spectrum. Along with his 1991 and 1992 Stanley Cup championships he also won a Calder Cup in 1988 and was named playoff MVP posting a 12-0 record. After completing his 18th pro season in 2001, the last seven of which he appeared with the Chicago Wolves, he hung up his pads for the final time. Young is the Wolves record holder in numerous categories including wins, minutes, shutouts, and assists by a goalie with 14. He also is credited with the first Wolves victory in there history. Since ending his pro career Wendell has been busy, he is currently employed by the Calgary Flames as a goaltending coach and he also holds a position in the offices of the Chicago Wolves. The Chicago Wolves recently retired the number one in honor of Young's great contributions to the organization.

Young Woman Considered Contender for Olympic Gold
BROOKLYN PARK, MN (July 8, 2001) - By Craig Pinley Krissy Wendell is all about Kingdom goals, having been a Christian since the age of five and having been raised in a Christian home in Brooklyn Park. Wendell is setting her sights on another goal for a few months, one that she hopes will end with a gold medal wrapped around her neck. Wendell, who attends Redeemer Covenant Church in Brooklyn Park, is considered a strong candidate to make the 2002 United States Olympic women's hockey team that will play in Salt Lake City, Utah, next winter. She's striving to help the U.S. squad reach the goal of repeating its gold medal winning ways of the 1998 Olympics.
