Todd Woodbridge World-famous doubles player and Orlando resident, hosted Tennis with the Pros at Isleworth Benefiting Health Central's School Nurse Program Sunday, September 8, 2002 at the Isleworth Tennis Club Attendees at this charity event had a unique opportunity of an inside look at the winning strategies of Todd Woodbridge - arguably the best doubles player in the World. During separate clinics for men and women that lasted throughout the day, Todd demonstrated and then taught the winning techniques and strategies that have led to multiple titles at the US, French and Australian Opens and, of course, Wimbledon. For example, in competitive doubles, good communication between partners is essential. On the right, Todd demonstrates a unique method of remembering the "game plan" - printing it on the back of partner Justin Gimelstob's shorts....! This annual event supports Health Central Foundation's School Nurse Program which has placed Registered Nurses in 29 Orange
County Schools, providing over 32,000 children with medical care for the everyday illnesses and life threatening incidences that occur during class time.

And in the end there was Todd
By Linda Pearce February 10 2003 Australia 4 - Britain 1 When Todd Woodbridge was ranked No. 1 in doubles, he watched from the sidelines as Australia lost the 2001 Davis Cup final to France. Now retired from the solo form of the game, he yesterday played the dead final singles rubber against Britain, while a healthy Lleyton Hewitt sat courtside and Mark Philippoussis flew to California. Welcome to the wacky world of Australian Davis Cup selection, where the safest assumption is to expect the unexpected. Although once ranked 19th, and a former Wimbledon semi-finalist, Woodbridge had not played a singles match since September 2001, and was last alone in a Davis Cup match in a zone tie almost seven years ago. The 32-year-old said he was told of his inclusion during yesterday's dead fourth singles match between Wayne Arthurs, who was substituting for Lleyton Hewitt, and Miles Maclagan, although Arthurs seemed to recall a conversation on Saturday night in which Fitzgerald told Woodbridge of his plans, and was greeted, according to Arthurs, with "a little raised eyebrow. There was a little discussion, that's for sure". Whatever the circumstances, it was eventually decided to give Hewitt the morning off after two unbeaten days of claycourt play had guaranteed an Australian victory and then allow Philipp-oussis to depart and prepare for his first-round match this week in San Jose. The complication was that, if the Arthurs match ran too long, the un-ranked Woodbridge was the only remaining option.

It is the contextual portrait, by Richard Evans, of a complex institution set within the larger frameworks of sport and this century's great events and dynamics. Dwight Davis's annual challenge cup has proved to be the catalyst for tennis's entrance onto the international stage and it remains a significant force to this day. Evans charts both the cup's influence on the evolution of international tennis as well as the sporting, social and political storms which have buffeted the development of the Davis Cup ever since.
