Curriculum y publicaciones Oscar Aguilera F.

She has also launched her career as an artist with an installation about body sculpture that coincides with the completion of her tenth book of poetry, " The Love of Clothes and Nakedness ." Living in Israel and publishing in a language foreign to most of the inhabitants, she has found various strategies of coping – founding the Israel Association of Writers in English , making friends with Hebrew translators (who are responsible for the publication of three books), working with other media such as music and art, and enjoying the Internet as a window to the world. Karen Alkalay-Gut LIVE WAR It is like the slapstick where two people are fighting behind the couch
and you see one person jump and dive and then the other pop up,
then go down again, both with false-fierce faces and threatening arms. But this time they are all pummeling something below the window we cannot see
and making V's for victory to the crowd outside the police station.
This could be my brother, my son, my husband down there
being beaten to death because he happened to lose his way. By the time they throw him out to the street and ignite him
the face is unrecognizable, although he seems to be still alive. That's the program for this morning. The afternoon
is for retributionsmart bombs threaded into the windows
of the same station in Ramallah, and then the offices of Arafat in Gaza.

KAREN ALKALAY-GUT: RECIPES - LOVE SOUP AND OTHER POEMS These RECIPES are cosmopolitan lyrics in a feminist tradition of politicising the personal and personalising the political. The poems are direct and centred in the female body and experience, and there is a particular focus on relationships whether between lovers, parents and children or between friends. In the title poem LOVE SOUP, Alkalay-Gut presents series of interweaving scenarios: action shots on low speed film endless shadows seeming to move as one; love is seen in its diverse complexity: How interchangeable are genitalia and how specific desire. The RECIPES are, however, poems of middle age, using a language which sounds old fashioned to those under thirty. In THE KEEPERS OF MY YOUTH, the speaker's past and future are personified by the now aged authority figures of the speaker's youth:

RECITAL
By karen Alkalay-Gut
‘Jenin
'was nothing like you’ve seen on the screen.’
‘Jenin had no relief,’ he says, turning on the stool away from the keys, pushing his thick hair from his eyes with long movements. ‘Jenin’ – turning back and to play a delicate chord – ‘was worse than I’d ever dreamed. Even worse than the caf? in Tel Aviv. Jenin. Have you ever been in streets so close the houses and all the raging people within lean over you?’ Jenin. He dips with his delicate fingers onto the keys. ‘Even the child who came out to me begging a cigarette’ – now the music twinkles like little stars ‘was only sent to distract me from the sniper just behind. ‘And everything was mined. Even the man who seemed mortally wounded. I wanted to go to him – David held me back – He blew up before my eyes.'

and it is always a new story. This year I note for the first time
that on my records every month counts:
today I am fifty five and a quarter

I would proudly proclaim my full age
nine and a half, almost ready to become
a double number, a teen. When was your last period, he asks
innocently, barely lifting his pen much less his eyes, ignoring the deep intimacy of his query. Who knows? Do the sweet hormone-induced cycles of the last decade count as real? And how do we know what is really natural and physical in these times? When my father was dying, we had to decide when the end should be on our own. When was your first period? Ah, that is an event I remember well. I was barely eleven, back from synagogue and my crinolines were all stained red. I screamed from the bathroom
