Previous Artist ('Minakim') Member of Fantasy Art Gallery four hundred seventynine of Elfwood Next Artist ('Ruebel') ... Not much to say; I'm a college student majoring in Web Design and Multimedia, finishing up what should be my last year. I like fantasy art, anything done by early Magic: The Gathering artists like Melissa Benson, Anson Maddocks, etc. I mostly stick to really basic fantasy characters, I don't draw a lot of elves, don't draw a lot of dwarves; I keep my fantasy pretty much in the same species. Dragons are ok, but way overused in fantasy; I prefer my dragons look and feel different than the everyday winged fire breather. Lots of geometric shapes, really tight designs (look at the 'tatto works' drawing to see what I mean), things like that too. I'm not great, but I do think my art merits a look-over, if only to see something original on Elfwood (which, no offense to anyone, but is majority ruled by the same type of artists doing the same type of art). Sir William George Armstrong Armstrong was born in the Shieldfield area of Newcastle on the 26 November 1810. His father was the proprietor of a corn merchants business on the Newcastle Quayside and had a strong interest in Natural History, Mathematics and was a member of the Literary and Philosophical Society. Young William trained to be a solicitor and although he became a partner in a legal practice he had inherited similar interests to his father, particularly in the field of science and engineering. Armstrong gave knowledgeable lectures on these subjects at the Newcastle Lit and Phil and in 1842 he constructed a Hydro Electric generator. This was constructed with the knowledge gained following the accidental discovery of a discharge of static electricity from a colliery boiler by an engineman at a Northumberland coal mine. Around 1846 Armstrong's interests shifted from Hydro Electricity to Hydraulics and he persuaded wealthy Newcastle men to back him in the development of hydraulic cranes for Newcastle which were powered with the assistance of the town's Whittle Dene Water Company. The scheme was such a great success that in 1847 Armstrong gave up his legal practice to establish the Newcastle Cranage company at Elswick which later became known as `Armstrong's Factory' as immortalised in the `Blaydon Races' Following the Crimean War in the 1850s Armstrong became increasingly involved with the manufacture of armaments and his eighteen pound breach loading gun was one of many Armstrong weapons recognized as the best in the world. Such devices, often tested on the moors of Allendale, were ordered by armies and navies all over the the world from Russia and Japan to the United States. In fact Armstrong supplied both armies in the American Civil War.

It mixes various musical styles, among them in the original score mostly orchestral and choral music, and electronics. It contains extremely beautiful and effective passages as well as unlistenable noise. If you skip the latter, and also the various Pop insertions, you get one of the most enjoyable and interesting scores ever. That said, on to some details. In my opinion, the love theme is probably the most beautiful one ever composed for a film and in my opinion tops Nino Rota's Romeo and Juliet love theme. It is based on Des'rée's Kissing You (or the other way around?), masterfully rendered with piano and lush strings in the tracks “Kissing You” and “Balcony Scene”. These two tracks already justify buying this CD, but there is lot more to come. “Morning Breaks” contains another variation of the piano/strings passages, “Slow Movement” (composed by Craig Armstrong) is a suite of pure string themes that are reminiscent of Michael Nyman because of their instrumentation and their “monotony”. Parts of that track seem to have been adapted by the German TV soap opera “Verbotene Liebe” as a recurring background theme

Sijan and Armstrong were flying low over the "Ho Chi Minh Trail" when, at approximately 2100, the aircraft was hit by a surface-to-air missile (SAM) and crashed. The two went down near the famed Mu Gia Pass, a pass in the mountainous border region of Laos and Vietnam. William A. Percy III maintains that Cretan sages established a system under which a young warrior in his early twenties took a teenager of his own aristocratic background as a beloved until the age of thirty, when service to the state required the older partner to marry. The practice spread with significant variants to other Greek-speaking areas. In some places it emphasized development of the athletic, warrior individual, while in others both intellectual and civic achievement were its goals. In Athens it became a vehicle of cultural transmission, so that the best of each older cohort selected, loved, and trained the best of the younger.
