67. Roger Coleman - Case Summary - Innocence Project By Claudia Whitman
Furthermore, McCoy’s husband had immediately named coleman as a likely suspectbecause of his access to the McCoy household as wanda’s brotherin-law.
http://www.lairdcarlson.com/grip/Coleman/Case Summary.htm
Roger Keith Coleman (Virginia) Case Chart Allegations Crime Wanda McCoy was attached in, or just outside, her home on March 10, 1981. She was then raped and murdered. There was little sign of a struggle and, as she seldom opened the door when she was home alone, it was assumed she had allowed her attacker to come into the house. Roger Coleman, her brother-in-law, had access to the house and immediately became a suspect. Coleman, who worked in a mine, had reported to work that night but had left when his shift was dismissed. A fingerprint was found on the front screen door and a pry mark on the front door molding, and bloodstains inside the house. The victim had broken fingernails, cuts on the hands, and a dark, dusty substance on her body. The autopsy report recorded wounds to her chest and throat, but did not mention defensive wounds on her hands or a bruise on her arm. Limited forensic testing was done. Salient Issues
  • Coleman had a well-documented list of his whereabouts on the night of the murder and several alibi witnesses who gave affidavits. The prosecution claimed that there was little sign of a struggle. However, the victim had defensive wounds, including cuts on her hands, broken fingernails, and a bruise on her upper arm but the defense did not introduce this evidence.

Lead singer, Wanda Cobb , with roots in gospel music, is a major presence on stage; audiences love it when this "lady sings the blues". Her distinctive personal approach is stamped with her own artistic signature from the first note to the last. Gordon Bulcock on guitar is a truly gifted lead performer. Warren Coleman on bass and Kelly Beyer , the percussionist, have played together for so many years they almost read each other's mind this is rather important as everything Wanda does, she does

This film examines the history of this collaboration and recent racial conflicts between Afro-Americans and Jews and attempts at understanding and reconciliation, with particular emphasis on events in New York City and Oakland, California.

Mark Warner's desk. Given what the nation now knows about the reality of erroneous convictions, even in crimes serious enough to trigger the death penalty, Warner should bring clarity to this muddled case by ordering the test. Ever since his face appeared on a Time magazine cover, Coleman has been at the center of a fierce national debate over the validity of his conviction. He was executed in 1992 for the 1981 murder in Grundy of his sister-in-law. Coleman's supporters argue that, given what is known about his whereabouts on the night of the murder, he simply did not have enough time to rape and kill Wanda McCoy. Detractors observe that Coleman was convicted in a fair trial and that DNA testing shortly before his death put him in a tiny subset of people who could have contributed the genetic material left at the crime scene. To suggest that there's no useful purpose in revisiting this matter, however, is akin to refusing to study history. How are humans to be guided by their mistakes if they refuse to entertain the possibility of error? In what other field would policy-makers reject the opportunity to subject their actions to pure, unbiased scientific scrutiny?

    Reviewing in general

Introduction The complete review is, at its heart, a book review site. What sets us apart from most other review sites is our embrace of a plurality of opinions (an embrace that is admittedly often a throttling chokehold), as we provide review summaries, quotes from, and links to as many other reviews as we can find.
Differing opinions and perspectives on books generally offer more insight than a lone voice, and are to be valued for that. That's the main reason we focus on providing them.
Reviews often also stir the passions of those involved: authors often feel success depends on positive critical notice, reviewers are occasionally carried away by the sheer brilliance (or utter hackwork-character) of a book, or the book-subject is a highly controversial one. It makes for an occasionally explosive mix: differing opinions make for good arguments, and if they a very strongly-held opinions can lead to quite unseemly disagreements. Certainly, as far as entertainment value goes, some of the best of these heated clashes pit reviewers against authors, each other, and other outraged parties. We enjoy a good literary slugfest as much as anyone, and we propose with this new annual

Moses Coleman , son of Robert Coleman, II, is mentioned in Deed Book OO, p. 125, where reference is made to 200 acres of land patented by Moses Coleman on 8 Jun 1739 and sold by Moses to James Barnes on 7 Jan 1743. Thus Moses Coleman owned land from 1739 to 1743 just North of the Tar River [ Bradley, 1995 , p. 8], probably located just North of present day Tarboro, NC located in Edgecombe County, near the border with Halifax County, where Deep Creek and Fishing Creek join the Tar River. Moses left a will dated 2 Mar 1760, probated June 1760 listing his wife Mary and 4 children: Amos Coleman John Coleman Moses Coleman, II Christian Coleman ... Moses Coleman, II left a will dated May 25, 1799 probated in Bladen County, NC. His will shows his wife's name was Luraine. "Lurana" was possibly born a Faulk.
