Tennessee bigfoot a disagreeable fellow By E. randall floyd Special Columnist. E.randall floyd is a syndicated writer who lives in Augusta.

Newspaper Article:
The Augusta (GA) Chronicle; April 6, 1997 Tennessee bigfoot a disagreeable fellow
By E. Randall Floyd Special Columnist There's a bigfoot attacking cars and trying to snatch little children in the Tennessee foothills. Exactly what the Flintville monster is or where it came from remains a mystery, but more than two decades of
sightings and terrifying encounters have left many people convinced that the creature is not only real but
have left the folks of Flintville, Tenn., about 70 miles west of Chattanooga, convinced that the creature is not only
real, but dangerous. ``That thing's so big it could easily hurt somebody,'' complained Ned Sinclair, a farmer. ``Who knows how many
head of our livestock have gone missing because of it?'' So far no one has been hurt by the Flintville monster, which often leaves behind 16-inch footprints and a foul,
skunk-like odor. But there are those who claim to have had close calls. One man said a ``7-foot-tall hairy monster'' chased him through the woods, howling and screeching at him like an
ape. A woman said she hid on the floorboard when a similar creature attacked her car.

A Renaissance Man
An Interview with Brewster Milton Robertson
By Joyce Dixon I suspect that Brewster Robertson would be the first to rebuff my calling him "a renaissance man," but that is clearly what he is. Robertson brings to mind those men who used to be numerous in the South and now are rare treasures. Where the term today has been belittled to "Jack of all trades and master of none," Robertson excels at each venture and greets the morning with curiosity and the spirit of an explorer. Like his slightly autobiographical character Buchanan Forbes in Rainy Days and Sundays , both have backgrounds in commercial art, freelance writing, pharmaceutical sales and play guitar. Buchanan is "a renaissance man" as he takes stock of his situation and transforms himself to reach the next level. Brewster Robertson's other incarnations include Army Medical Service officer, marketing consultant, Marketing Director for various hospitals and related companies, teacher, photographer's model and film actor, ghost writer and consulting editor. Rainy Days and Sunday has been awarded the first Golden Eye Literary Prize by publisher E. Randall Floyd of Harbor House. Floyd states, " Robertson, like McCullers, tells his stories with great artistry, sensitivity and compassion. Not only is

The beasties, who by their description sound like the same ones seen in the county's waterways have been reported in the Jacksonville and Saint Augustine areas of Florida.
Back to Georgia Haints, Hauntings and Hoodoos

Although the name may give the impression that this monster is a joke, it has been sighted by seasoned fishermen who say they have never seen such a beastie before, (and rather wish they never had, from the teasing they have received.) Named after the river it frequents, the Altamaha, this mysterious creature is said to be large, dark, has two humps and churns the waters in a strange way when surfacing or submerging. The local newspaper, the Darien News, has recorded a number of sightings. Darien is a small fishing town in McIntosh County on the south Georgia coast. For those unacquainted with the coastal area, it is not a coastline of beaches directly on the ocean, by no means, but is made up of many islands and acres of marshes with brown water creeks and rivers meandering through - dividing the sounds from the mainland proper, there are old rice fields of extinct plantations, and some of these still contain miles of dikes, canals and resulting ponds. These were all built by the slaves of the period for rice culture. The creeks and rivers dividing these marshes and rice fields are where the sightings most frequently occur.

Requesting more information about the Weddle Family roots. My name is Randall Weddle. I recently learned that my ancestors arrived in the New World well before the Revolution and settled in Virginia. Through the assistance of the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library, (Charlotte Atkins, Library Assistant), I was able to identify my GGGGreat Grandfather, Benjamin Weddle, who was an early settler in the Floyd County area. I have also learned that my GGGreat Grandfather, Andrew Weddle, and his son, John B. Weddle, lived and died in Floyd County, and that my Great Grandfather, Callahill Weddle, moved on to Ohio.
I was raised in Indiana, where my Grandfather moved to from Ohio when he was a young man. I moved to Alaska,in 1971, where I have raised my family. My oldest son has now moved to Virginia, which gives me a special interest in your State, and I thought I would share with your readers the information I have learned about our Weddle roots. I hope some of my Weddle relatives in Floyd County will read this and respond, perhaps providing more information than I have about the Weddle roots.
