VIXENS BREAK THROUGH 14-4
March 25, 2001 The Captains came out stronger in the second half, causing some SBC turnovers in the midfield, but Aneralla and Benham scored twice, Dixon tallied another and Kylene Smith '03 (Virginia Beach, VA) finished off the scoring with 23 seconds left to play. Vixen keeper Laurna Kaatz '01 (Englewood, CO) played a strong half, coming up with 10 saves to secure the Sweet Briar victory. CNU falls to 0-4 on the season. Coach Astrid Mel said of the game, "We played a more organized attack, with better passing today. On defense, we doble-teamed and pressured the ball with more intensity." Sweet Briar (1-4) hosts Mary Baldwin College on Tuesday at 4:30. (more)

Our students excelled in the classroom, on the stage, in competitions, and on the athletic fields. They participated in co-curricular activities in record numbers and involved themselves in many community service activities. Students won numerous awards and members of our faculty were named Nebraska Creative Writing Teacher of the Year, Nebraska Rookie Business Teacher of the Year, and Buffett Award winner. The Register was named best large student newspaper in the nation. Our enrollment continues to grow. We believe this is attributable to the quality of the experience we provide our students. With the increasing numbers come numerous challenges in these times of limited resources. We will have to explore capping enrollment for the 2002-2003 school year. A committee of parents, students, alumni, community representatives, and staff will begin meeting in September to explore options.
