    INTRODUCTION
British Museum B John Gay produced, apart from The Beggar's Opera , a small body of prose and poetry ranging in quality from brilliant to drab. In 1712 was printed, but never acted, a short topical play, The Mohocks , concerning the exploits of a gang who had named themselves after a warlike Native American tribe: Come fill up the Glass,
    Round, round let it pass,
'Till our Reason be lost in our Wine:
    Leave Conscience's Rules
    To Women and Fools,
This only can make us divine. Chorus. Then a Mohock, a Mohock I'll be,
    No Laws shall restrain
    Our Libertine Reign,
We'll riot, drink on, and be free.
[All Drink.] The point of this slight work, if it has one, seems to be that frolicsome gentlemen, by introducing chaos into society, have only themselves to blame if that chaos leads to their own downfall. The moral concern that drives The Beggar's Opera is found here, along with its sense of play and eye for detail; it is easy to see why the Scriblerians adopted Gay so wholeheartedly so early in his career.

Beggar's Opera and its Sanskrit Wordplay
    By richston99@yahoo.com, Richard Stoney
In 1728, there appeared the first public production of John Gay's Beggar's Opera , which dealt with activities of some British crooks. As known by anyone familiar with the play, the names are highly contrived (Filch, Crook-Finger'd Jack). This essay will show that the names of most of the characters are Sanskritic hybrids, mixed with English. What many people do not know is that European missionaries were very knowledgeable in Sanskrit circa 1600.
In a some cases, it will be difficult to determine whether the plays on words are all-Sanskrit, all-English or mixtures of both (especially in the case of Matt of the Mint). Since the two languages are etymologically related, this is inevitable. In other cases, it will be difficult to know whether some English words had certain definitions which were in usage during John Gay's time; that is, some definitions which originated years before Beggar's Opera may have certain definitions which postdate it. It could take years for a particular usage to enter mainstream English, especially if originated by a sub-culture, such as an ethnic or criminal one. In such cases, I will supply the earliest quote/usage for that definition, as supplied by Oxford English Dictionary . In any case, it will become obvious that there is much wordplay involving the characters' names.

disclaimed:- actually I am rather against the 3rd generation phones because if I want to take a picture I will use a camera, if I want to use a phone, I will use a phone. Do people really want all these features, when using them in the street will possibly result in being mugged at gunpoint for their phone? mobile phone companies and networks are just desperate to get people to keep upgrading their phone and spending more money. Text messaging brings them loads but they want more, they want people to send pictures via text etc and play outrageous prices. Although I quite like my face on a phone ;)

At the same time, all open adoptions are as unique as the families and birthparents planning them. Open adoption gives everyone choices and involvement in creating the best possible placement plan.
We want our child to know his or her birth parents as very special people who will always be there and who love him or her very much.
