    Who Does What Family Roles Created By Nicole Terpstra Grade(s): 1 Lesson: 3
  • Rationale based on Pre instructional Assessment:
  • This lesson is part of a unit on families. The unit will identify different types of families, the roles and responsibilities of family members, and characteristics of the family environment as these areas are required in the Grade 1 IRP. In this lesson students will further examine families. This lesson will help students to identify the roles and responsibilities of family members in their home by discussing and exploring who does what in their home. The students will also be introduced to critical thinking and Venn diagrams. This lesson will also encourage the students to share their opinions with the class. Due to previous lessons, students will already have an understanding of what a family is and that families can be different but all are valid. If students have not discussed what a family is then this should be addressed prior to this lesson.
  • Statement of Learning Outcome(s):
  • IRP Outcomes Social Studies: Society and Culture Students will be able to describe how families can be similar and different.
