Section Menu Neighbourhoods Parks and Recreation Public Amenities Events Around Vancouver George Wainborn Park George Wainborn Park is a fine selection from a series of waterfront parks to stretch along Concord Pacific Place. When complete, this dramatic 6.5 acre waterfront park will sit at the foot of Richards Street in the Beach Crescent Neighbourhood next to Granville Street Bridge, facing Granville Island. For Beach Crescent Neighbourhood residents, this is their very own front yard. Imagine long strolls across freshly cut grass down to the seawalk where it will lead you to yet another Concord Pacific Place waterfront park, David Lam Park. The park is named after George Wainborn for his lengthy years of service as a Vancouver Parks Board Commissioner. Mr. Wainborn has also been involved in the planning and design process of this park.

    George Silvermans's Explanation
    NINTH CHAPTER
I had not much need to feign to be subdued; but I counterfeited to be older than I was in all respects (Heaven knows! my heart being all too young the while), and feigned to be more of a recluse and bookworm than I had really become, and gradually set up more and more of a fatherly manner towards Adelina. Likewise I made my tuition less imaginative than before; separated myself from my poets and philosophers; was careful to present them in their own light, and me, their lowly servant, in my own shade. Moreover, in the matter of apparel I was equally mindful; not that I had ever been dapper that way; but that I was slovenly now. As I depressed myself with one hand, so did I labour to raise Mr. Granville with the other; directing his attention to such subjects as I too well knew interested her, and fashioning him (do not deride or misconstrue the expression, unknown reader of this writing; for I have suffered!) into a greater resemblance to myself in my solitary one strong aspect. And gradually, gradually, as I saw him take more and more to these thrown-out lures of mine, then did I come to know better and better that love was drawing him on, and was drawing her from me. It was on a summer morning that I rose before the sun to compose myself for the crowning of my work with this end; and my dwelling being near to the sea, I walked down to the rocks on the shore, in order that I might behold the sun in his majesty.

    Captain Andrew Hampton Born 1716 - 1720
Captain Andrew Hampton lived in Granville County, North Carolina. He was a Captain in the Granville Militia 1754-55. He is believed to have married a woman named Sarah (surname unknown, possibly Kuykendall). Note: There seems to be much confusion concerning Captain Andrew. It is possible that there were two "Captain" Andrew Hamptons and a "Colonel" Andrew Hampton, all in Granville County at about the same time, and all with sons named Ezekiel, Ephraim, and Zachariah. More research is needed, but it is certain that my Hampton line "begins" with a Captain Andrew Hampton of Granville County. Captain Andrew's children:
    Ezekiel Hampton 1735 - 1811
Ephraim Hampton (possibly born 1738 - 1740, In 1754 he was an Ensign in his father's Militia Co.
John Hampton Lt. John Hampton of Granville Militia.
