After graduating with honors from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1977, Harris went to work as a sales executive for IBM. Five years ago, he quit his job as a computer salesman and used $25,000 of his own money to print INVISIBLE LIFE, which in the wake of the ensuing frenzy was published as a Doubleday paperback in 1994 and quickly soared to number one on the Blackboard Bestseller List of African American titles. JUST AS I AM, his second novel, made Harris the first male writer to have a number-one hardcover on the Blackboard list. His third novel, AND THIS TOO SHALL PASS, debuted on Blackboard at number one and spent nine weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. In 1996, JUST AS I AM received the Novel of the Year prize from Blackboard African American Bestsellers, Inc. An avid University of Arkansas Razorbacks fan and college lecturer, Harris lives in Chicago, where his literary success, which he compares to "walking through a dream," has allowed him to purchase a house for his mother. "That's the best part that I was able to do that for her." Read the text of E. Lynn Harris' online chat

Author Spotlight E. Lynn Harris Just when your thirst for another chart-topping and provocative novel from dynamo best selling author, E. Lynn Harris , was starting to peak, BAM! Here it is. And not a moment too soon. Ever since the releases of Any Way the Wind Blows and Not A Day Goes By , which earned the author top showings on both the New York Times and Blackboard best sellers lists, fans have been waiting with baited breath for the next installment of or whatever colorful characters Harris chooses to dream up. Since Harris broke ground with such novels as Invisible Life Just As I Am And This Too Shall Pass If This World Were Mine Abide With Me Not a Day Goes By (2000), and most recently with Any Way the Wind Blows (2001), he's never failed to deliver a best seller. Harris' repertoire is so spicy, in fact, that three of his novels have been optioned to Hollywood production studios with prominent actors and actresses being associated with the projects. With the planned July 2002 release of A Love of My Own , Harris has managed to create the kind of media stir seldom seen with the release of African American titles.

Relationships and ambitions are tested as Harris deftly guides us toward this entertaining novel's conclusion.
