S. Lewis Clive Staples Lewis, Jack to his friends, was born in Belfast on 29 November 1898. A solicitor's son, educated mostly in England, he won a classical scholarship to Oxford University in 1916. Enlisting in the army, he was wounded at Arras in 1918. On resuming his studies, he entered into a curious relationship with a demanding older woman, Janie Moore, following a promise made to her son who was killed in the war. Despite the financial burden, Lewis set up home with Mrs Moore and her daughter, first in Oxford and later at nearby Headington Quarry. In 1932 they were joined by Lewis' elder brother Warnie, who had retired from the army. Lewis remained in the house after Mrs Moore's death in 1951 and in 1956 married an American divorcee, Joy Davidman, to enable her to avoid extradition. This second curious relationship brought unexpected happiness, but his wife died of bone cancer in 1960, and Lewis himself died at home on 29 November 1963. With a triple first, Lewis became a fellow and tutor of Magdalen College in 1925. An agnostic, he found his views changing, helped by the vigorous discussions of academics known as the Inklings, notably J. R. R. Tolkien. From theism he came to a full acceptance of Christianity - 'the most dejected and reluctant convert in England', he later wrote. In 1936 he won the Hawthornden prize with

Information about C.S. Lewis Lewis's many published works cover a wide spectrum of topics, both contemporary issues and the enduring questions of human meaning in the world as creatures of God. How do we live in a world with nuclear weapons? How should animals be treated in scientific research? How does a person deal with homosexual tendencies? How do Christians confront suffering and evil in the world? Does prayer really work? Lewis addresses these and hundreds of other topics from the bedrock of biblical truth. Indeed, C.S. Lewis is hailed as one of the greatest Christian thinkers of the twentieth century. That he's cristian can clearly be seen in his books, the Narnia chronicles for example. In these, Aslan is the leader of good, instead of god. The main charcters travels through many difficulties, many which can be seen in a cristian way, and in the end all the animals of Narnia stand before the great door leading into Aslans paradise, and those who cannot bear the goodness and feel their sins cannot bear to enter this paradise but turn of, away from the door. C.S. Lewis died 11/22/63.

Clive Staples (C.S.) Lewis Cosmic Trilogy or Ransome Trilogy C.S. Lewis is best known for his Narnia books. A popular children's fantasy series, it is allegorical in nature and uses many devices of SF, including time travel, alternate dimensions, and parallel worlds. A better example of his work that crosses the SF and Fantasy genres is his Cosmic Trilogy which follows the work of the linguist Dr. Ransom, who, like Christ, is at one point offered as a ransom for mankind. The first two novels are planetary romances involving elements of medieval mythology. The third volume, is set on a contemporary Earth.
