He has done more than any other individual to promote jazz in Britain over the last 50-odd years. His programme “The Best of Jazz” has been running on BBC Radio 2 for over 30 years and introduced me, as a callow youth, to the wonders of such as Vic Dickenson, George Wettling, Joe Thomas, Lucky Thompson, etc, etc...
