APPENDIX 1
TEXTILE PROFESSIONS FROM BLC, EFF AND IPM GROUPED BY OCCUPATION AND ROLE LISTED BY PROPERTY AND YEAR NOTES on Headings and Columns:Occupation= Role: The "Napper", "Quilter" and "Stitcher" are excluded from all but the counts of individuals because they only occur once and cannot be included with any other group. Those listed under "Occupation= Patronymic" are similarly excluded. Numerals to the right of the "Occupation= Role" entries indicate for each group first the no. of different individuals, second the no. of references per person totalled, and third the no of roles. Actions listed under the role "Conveyor" include conveyances by quitclaim. Year: Dates cited from the EFF are precise; those from the BLC are frequently approximate, calculated as accurately as possible to within five years of actual date. Property: An entry of 'homage,' 'service,' or 'rent' under the occupational role heading "Tenant" indicates obligations owed by the individual named. If the value of a rental is known for a particular piece of property, both the rent and the property will be listed under a role "Tenant" heading, but will be counted as one property. Properties are not listed for witnesses. They are given for "Tailor= Agent" to indicate the scale and value of transactions entrusted to tailors. Otherwise, properties under the "Tailor= Agent" field are not included in counts or statistical calculations. Also excluded from counts are properties listed under role "Patronymic."

    77. Life Of Philip Massinger (1583-1640)
from that time until 1613 when he is mentioned in philip Henslowe's Around 1618, Massingercollaborated with Thomas middleton and William Rowley on The Old Law
    http://www.luminarium.org/sevenlit/massinger/massbio.htm
Philip Massinger was born in 1583 to Anne and Arthur Massinger. He was the second of five children, and the only boy. He was baptized in the church of St. Thomas, Salisbury , on November 24, 1583. His father had earned a B.A. from St. Alban Hall, Oxford , become a fellow of Merton College , and received his M.A. from Oxford and Cambridge both. Arthur Massinger was a long-time trusted servant first to Sir Henry Herbert, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, and then to his heir Sir William Herbert , 3rd Earl of Pembroke, until Arthur's death in 1603.
On May 14, 1602, Philip Massinger entered as a commoner of St. Alban Hall, Oxford. The Earl of Pembroke paid his college expenses during the four years he spent there. He displeased his patron, however, by paying more attention to the study of poetry and romances than to the study of philosophy and logic, as his patron had intended. Massinger left Oxford without taking a degree, and came to London in 1606. There are no records of his life from that time until 1613 when he is mentioned in Philip Henslowe 's Diary
Scholars have assumed that Massinger became John Fletcher 's primary collaborator after 1613 when Beaumont got married and retired from the theatre. In 1613, Massinger

    79. Musicology And The Semiotics Of Popular Music By Philip Tagg (Semiotica 66-1/3,

    Musicology and the
    semiotics of popular music
by Philip Tagg This text was originally published as an article in Semiotica Semiotica version. Starts of pages in the Semiotica version are shown in small braces. Sorry, but this file contains no more than bare, unformatted text.
If you want to know why you have been sent involuntarily to this file, click here To view the entire correct version (PDF), click here Introduction The problem A semiotic musicology of the mass media: why? It is with musicology that our problems start. The vast majority of music in our society falls under neither of the headings `art' or `folk' the traditionally legitimate areas of serious music studies , the only current terms available for denoting the music most used by most people being mesomusica or popular music. There is no room here to explain why, at least until quite recently, musicology has managed to ignore most of the music produced and used in the post-Edison era (see Tagg 1987), but it does seem that this discipline has had considerable difficulty in expanding its range of methodological tools (chiefly developed as a conceptual system for demonstrating the aesthetic superiority and mythologically supra-social, `eternal' or `absolute' quality of Central European art music styles) to deal with other music. This sad state of affairs does not only hamper the development of musicology; it is also an obstacle to interdisciplinary mass media studies. Several scholars approaching the area of popular music from other angles, often from the discipline of sociology, have explicitly asked musicologists for analytical models explaining relations between musical structures and the larger set of sociocultural reality in which these sounds occur (e.g. Laing 1969 and Frith 1982). They have received no satisfactory answers, because traditional musicology has tended to steer clear of viewing music as a symbolic system whose structures are considered as either references to or as interpretations, reflections, reconstructions or re-creations of experiences which are not necessarily intrinsically musical. This is, in short, a problem of musical semiotics.

    Middleton Family
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Middleton had fourteen children. After their fourth child, they, like the rest of the world, were going to stop having children. While praying and reading her Bible, Mrs. Middleton felt led of God to have as many children as God intended for them to have. She then had ten more. The last ten have all surrendered to full-time Christian service.
