Credit Cards approval James Douglas Morrison was born in Melbourne, Florida December 8, 1943 to Clara and Steve Morrison. Clara was a housewife and daughter of a lawyer. Steve was an officer in the U.S. Navy. Jim had two younger siblings: a brother, Andy, and a sister, Anne. Anne was the youngest of the three. Jim, at an early age, was a fervent reader. Although he exhibited great leadership and intelligence, he also showed a tendency to challenge authority. This disrespect of authority led him to get kicked out of Cub Scouts for tormenting the Den Mother through constant misbehaving.

LIVING IN THE DEAD ZONE
Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison
Understanding the Borderline
Personality Disorder Gerald A. and Ralph M. Faris SUMMARY AUTHORS BIO ORDER READING ROOM ... Preface Summary This surprising new book by Clinical Psychologist Dr. Gerald Faris and his brother, Sociologist Dr. Ralph Faris, explains in detail, how Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison, the 'king and queen' of rock and roll in the 1960's, suffered from a little understood psychiatric disorder that eventually took their lives. The book is clinical in theme, lyrical in style and deeply sympathetic to the real suffering of Janis and Jim. It raises and answers the following questions:
  • Why did they behave so outrageously? Why were they so self-destructive? What did they have in common? What could have helped them? What really killed them?
The Faris' analysis differs from previously published works in that it provides an explanation for, rather than just a description of the outrageous behaviors that led to Janis and Jim's premature deaths. To form the conclusions in their book, they carefully analyze the voluminous literature ad film available about the two performing artists. One of the most captivating parts of the book is found in the imaginary but revealing psychotherapy sessions with Janis and then with Jim. The sessions are realistically constructed and are both entertaining and sympathetic. They will help to clarify the nature and complexity of this disorder for both the laymen and the clinician.

53. Patricia Kennealy, Strange Days: My Life With And Without Jim Morrison
Rambles review of Kennealymorrison's autobiography.

Patricia Kennealy,
Strange Days: My Life
With and Without Jim Morrison

(Dutton, 1992)
On June 24, 1970, before witnesses, Patricia Kennealy, editor of magazine, and Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, exchanged vows in a Celtic pagan handfasting ceremony. A year later, he would be found dead in a bathtub in Paris, supposedly of heart failure. Strange Days: My Life With and Without Jim Morrison is the story of what led to the handfasting, and also of what came after the death of the author's mate. It is also a portrait of an era. Kennealy attended Woodstock; she knew personally many of the most famous rockers of the time. Her favorite bands were Jefferson Airplane and The Doors and she describes several concerts by The Doors in great detail. She also recounts time spent interviewing members of Jefferson Airplane. She did not really care for the atmosphere of Woodstock and she does not use nostalgic language to describe the experience. Drugs played a large part in the culture of the late Sixties; it is hard for us, in this "Just Say No" age, to picture that kind of reckless abandonment of self-control. Kennealy speaks without remorse of her own drug use; yes, she dropped acid and smoked marijuana, but she's not going to apologize for it, so just get over it. Despite its title, Kennealy's book does not really focus on Jim Morrison, though she describes in detail each of her meetings with him. It is the story of those few years in her own life and how Morrison changed that life forever. She is careful to point out that she had a life of her own as a rock critic before she met him which continued after his death. She went from being a critic and editor to writing ad copy; then began writing her

Dead at 27 In a Paris bathtub Should I wake you From your dream To see The oasis Beyond Or dismiss this as a mirage? Jim Morrison said "real poetry doesn't say anything, it just ticks off the possibilities... opens all doors you can walk through any one that suits you. If my poetry aims to achieve anything, it's to deliver people from the limited ways in which they see and feel" The moniker "Mr. Mojo Risin'" was an anagram a rearrangement of the letters in Jim Morrison.
