Here, wildlife is protected, sand is of powdery white quartz, and surf is gentle. Tee off on the pretty Burnt Pine Golf Course, or hike or bike through the pine forests. For accommodations, you can choose a beachside cottage, a large home, or a cozy bed and breakfast. Honeymoon cottages come complete with a screened-in porch, a hot tub, and a pair of bicycles. Sweet! Liberty County offers natural beauty away from the water. In Torreya State Park, you'll find 1,000 acres of deep ravines, 150-foot-high bluffs along the Apalachicola River, and rare plants and trees, including the Torreya tree, which only grows here. The Apalachicola State Forest has swamps hidden in the forest, clear lakes and rivers, and trails for quiet hikes. In Franklin County, the Carrabelle area is home to many beaches. Carrabelle and nearby towns host many festivals each year, including the Waterfront Festival, a bluegrass festival, and a blue crab festival. Carrabelle is home to the "world's smallest police station," which is literally just a telephone booth. Apalachicola offers a scenic walking tour of old homes dating back to the 1830s. The barrier islands of Dog, St. George, Little St. George, and St. Vincent offer many romantic options. The Julian G. Bruce State Park on St. George has miles of undeveloped beach, perfect for picnicking and swimming. Dog Island is quieter yet; accessible only by ferry, it's got a fab wildlife preserve. POKAÅ» ZAM“WIENIE

Oparta na faktach, ale daleka od pedanterii opracowań historycznych opowieść o burzliwym związku George Sand i Fryderyka Chopina. Autor przedstawia dzieje trudnego i gwałtownego uczucia łączącego dwie wybitne indywidualności.

Sand, George (1804-1876) George Sand was the pen name of Amantine-Aurore-Lucile Dupin, a French novelist of the 1800's. Her work was admired by the greatest writers of her time. After her death, Sand's writing went out of style, and she was remembered only for her shocking lifestyle and her love affairs with the composer Frederic Chopin and the poet Alfred de Musset. She defied social convention by smoking cigars and wearing men's clothes. Since the emergence of the women's movement in the mid-1900's, Sand's work has been rediscovered and she has attracted critical attention as a novelist and autobiographer. Sand was born in Paris and grew up in the tiny village of Nohant. She went to Paris in 1831 to write. Her many works can be divided roughly into four periods. Her first works were novels of romantic passion, notably Indiana Valentine (1832), and Lelia (1833). These novels protest against the socially defined condition of women and reflect her own emotional desires and disappointments. They plead for a woman's right to sincere love and to lead her own life. Beginning about 1840, Sand expressed her concern with social problems in such novels as Consuelo (1842-1843). In the mid-1840's, she wrote original novels of life in the French provinces. These include

I solemnly vowand this is the first glimmer of courage and ambition in my life!that I shall raise woman from her abject position, both through my self and my writing, God will help me!...let female slavery also have its Spartacus. That shall I be, or perish in the attempt."
-George Sand in a letter to Frederic Girerd, 1837 (Winegarten, 161)
The romantic 19th century French novelist, George Sand, was born Aurore Dupin in 1804. In 1821, after both Aurore's father and grandmother had died, she married Casimir Dudevant to escape her mother's guardianship. Aurore soon found married life too constraining for her and so moved out. (At the time divorce was illegal and so she was only separated from her husband.) On her own, she soon realized that the monthly allowance she received from her husband was not enough to lead the life she once did and so she began to publish her writings to gain money. Her first few novels were co-written with her lover Jules Sandeau but in 1832 she wrote her first solo novel, Indiana, under the pseudonym George Sand.

Faith is an excitement and an enthusiasm: it is a condition of intellectual magnificence to which we must cling as to a treasure, and not squander on our way through life in the small coin of empty words, or in exact and priggish argument.
I regard as a mortal sin not only the lying of the senses in matters of love, but also the illusion which the senses seek to create where love is only partial. I say, I believe, that one must love with all of one's being, or else live, come what may, a life of complete chastity. He who draws noble delights from the sentiments of poetry is a true poet, though he has never written a line in all his life.

"There is only one h a p p i n e s s in life: to l o v e and be loved." ~ George Sand Independent woman George Sand (1804-1876), born Amandine Aurore Lucile Dupin to an aristocratic Parisian family, did the unthinkable in her time: she claimed her equality, took on a man's name, and left a loveless marriage to pursue her dreams to write . "We cannot tear out a single page of our life," she observed, "but we can throw the whole book in the fire." A bold and dynamic woman, she had open love affairs, famous ones with composer Frederic Chopin and poet Alfred de Musset. She cross-dressed, smoked a pipe, and said with brutal honesty, "Man. . . is only too glad to have woman hold strictly to the Christian principle of suffering in silence." Biographer Rene Doumic called the courageous Sand "a genius...and daughter of Rousseau ," and celebrated Sand's spirit as "vibrating with every breath, electrified by every storm, she [Sand] looked up at every cloud behind which she fancied she saw a star shining." An inspiration to writers Elizabeth Barrett Browning Virginia Woolf Victor Hugo , and others, Sand's prolific career included over 100 novels, plays, and essays, including her famous novel, Lelia
