SHARP, J.—SHARP, W. •and, upon Sharp's promise to obtain a pardon, privately made a full confession. When Mitchell later claimed this promise, Sharp denied that any such promise had been given. His falsehood was proved by the entry of the act in the records of the court. Mitchell was finally condemned, but a reprieve would have been granted had not Sharp himself insisted on his death. This was speedily avenged. On the 3rd of May 1679, as he was driving with his daughter Isabel to St Andrews, he was set upon by nine men, and, in spite of the appeals of his daughter, was cruelly murdered. The place of the murder, on Magus Muir, now covered with fir trees, is marked by a monument erected by Dean Stanley, with a Latin inscription recording the deed. Unless otherwise mentioned, the proofs of the statements in this article will be found in vols. i. and ii. of the Lauderdale Papers (Camden Society) and in two articles in the Scottish Review, July 1884 and January 1885. •who came to England in 1713, and corresponded with the Prussian court on the possibility of the Anglican liturgy as a means of reconciliation between Lutherans and Calvinists. He died at Bath On the and of February 1714.

Mr. William Sharp William Sharp was what he called a "closet veteran." A closet veteran was a term he used to describe veterans who wouldn't talk about their battles to anyone. However, Bill regretted never talking about his battles to his father in law, who was in WWII, before he died. His reason to start talking was when someone was on "Sixty Minutes" and said that there were no concentration camps. Another reason for him to start talking was when he heard people say that Truman should not have dropped the Atom bomb. That was a sore spot for William. Germans had firebombed London and killer more people than the Atom bomb. William was warned by his brother, who participated in the massacre of Pearl Harbor, to not enlist in the military. Inevitably, three months after he graduated from Merchantville High School, he was drafted in August of 1943. His first division of basic training was in the 65th at Camp Shelby. He went in September of 1943. He fought with the 26th division, known as the Yankee Division. His training was in infantry, but he was assigned to a Canon Company. After a day's worth of training, the infantrymen had to clean out their canons. For a long time they didn't even fire the canons, but each day they had to change the oil. He remembers, "We had to keep those darn canons clean."

Mr. William Sharp His first night in France was spent in the famous hedgerows. They left hedgerows on October 4th; from there they went online outside of Paris. In France is where William fought. They were firing their guns into Germany when the 65th division relieved them. That's when the Battle of the Bulge started. William's division went north to relieve troops, but William only got ten miles from Bastognes. At that time, he and some others were in Luxemburg and Belgium. From there, they went back down and across France and into Germany, then they went into Austria, and then William wound up in Czechoslovakia. A scary part for William was when he was in a slip trench with someone who was helping him with his gun. It could have been a 240-millimeter mortar that landed outside the trench. The man he was with got what they called "shell-shocked battle fatigue." The man wouldn't come out of the trench for days. William had to bring food to him until he realized he wasn't getting any better. William had to turn him in. He came back a couple months later and was put in the kitchen so he wouldn't be shelled again. But the kitchen was hit. The man, however, stuck it out and finished the war.
