Rockville, MD For Immediate Release New ace intelligent file comparator saves hoursof programming. ace understands program syntax to show only real changes.
http://teratech.com/press/ace.cfm
For Immediate Release: New Ace intelligent file comparator saves hours of programming TM gives programmers a new way to see program changes fast. Ace can intelligently compare any two files, ignore unimportant differences such as indenting, case, white space and comments, and view the changes interactively. Ace works with any ASCII or binary file and understands the syntax of the Assembler, BASIC, C, DOS Batch, Pascal and xBase languages. Ace costs $99. works , only how it looks . TeraTech's new Ace Comparator TM solves this problem by allowing you to compare two programs and interactively view changes. do the same thing, rather than whether they just look different! Additionally, there is no limit on how long unequal areas can be (unlike DOS's FC program). Ace is available immediately at $99 each, direct from TeraTech. Ace comes with an unconditional 60 day money back guarantee. TeraTech makes programming tools for Visual Basic, Basic and C, including the Dazzle/VB TM image control and the popular ProBas Basic library. C++ Network Programming
This page describes the contents of the series of C++ Network Programming books written by Douglas C. Schmidt and Steve Huston that are being published by Addison-Wesley . These books explain how the ACE toolkit can be used to simplify the development of concurrrent and networked object-oriented software. A novel aspect of ACE is its use of patterns to integrate
  • C++ language features , e.g., classes, parameterized types, inheritance, and dynamic binding;
  • Advanced OS mechanisms , e.g., dynamic linking, multi-threading, and event demultiplexing; and
  • Efficient low-level IPC mechanisms , .e.g, Sockets, TLI, SSL, and shared memory.
into a powerful OO toolkit that simplifies the development of concurrent networked applications. The two books in the C++NP series thus far are:
  • C++ Network Programming: Mastering Complexity Using ACE and Patterns C++NPv1 describes how middleware and the ACE toolkit help address key challenges associated with developing networked applications. We review the core native OS mechanisms available on popular OS platforms and illustrate how C++ and patterns are applied in ACE to encapsulate these mechanisms in class library wrapper facades that improve application portability and robustness. The book's primary application example is a networked logging service that transfers log records from client applications to a logging server.

    FOR RELEASE THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 1991 This unified open platform definition will enable systems based on the Open Software Foundation's OSF/1(TM) operating system or USL's System V, Release 4 (SVR4) to provide a common set of source-compatible application interfaces, allowing developers to develop applications and be assured that they will run on all ACE UNIX platforms. This set of UNIX system interfaces will be available for both ACE hardware platformsAdvanced RISC Computing (ARC)-based and x86-based systems. Today's announcement, which goes far beyond previous agreements between supporters of SVR4 and OSF/1, is expected to encourage greater participation by a broader range of UNIX system and software vendors in the ACE Initiative. To date, the ACE Initiative includes more than 200 members. ACE products based on this unified open platform definition will be available to users in 1992. As part of this effort, USL has announced today that it is joining the ACE Initiative and will ensure that its ACE SVR4-based product family supports the same set of interfaces which include the Open Software Foundation's (OSF(TM) Application Environment Specification (AES) for the operating system, Motif graphical user interface, and Distributed Computing Environment

    SUBJECT: [ace-users] Mixed thread programming Hi, this question maybe a bit off track. But I couldn`t think a better place to ask. I ran into a project in different thread module. The C++ library that I only have binary is POSIX thread compliant. And the Java Virtual Machine is going to run on Solaris thread. The Java Native Interface (JNI) I am going to code on needs to use Solaris thread accessing pthread library. Has anybody ever done this before? If so, how much confidence is for the code reliability. About half year ago, I did similar programming with Solaris native thread on a pthread string library thru JNI. The code runs fine on single cpu machine, but crashes on SMP. The query of bug on string library went unanswered. Any comments are appreciated!!! Heping

      The Debian bug tracking system is a set of scripts which maintain a database of problem reports. All input and manipulation of reports is done by email, and the outstanding, recently closed and other listings of reports are made available via a webserver. People who wish to interact with it do not need to have accounts on the system running the database. An email client and web browser will do. The scripts have been parameterised so that they can be used for other projects besides Debian. JitterBug is a web based bug tracking system. It operates by receiving bug reports via email or a web form. Authenticated users can then reply to the message, move it between different categories or add notes to it. JitterBug is used by important software development projects like The Gimp, Gnome or the Linux Kernel. Current version Homepage http://samba.anu.edu.au/jitterbug/
