Integrated Science is an integrated middle school science curriculum using exciting and dynamic classroom telecasts, hundreds of hands-on activities, and student books that relate to real life. Summer training workshops for teachers, email access , and new performance-based assessment strategies are just a few of the features that make Integrated Science a leader in the field of science education and reform. Research from the SouthEastern Regional Vision for Education (SERVE) indicated that with Integrated Science , students have an increased understanding and an improved attitude toward science. Integrated Science has also been shown to improve standardized test scores in science.

The County School System is the seventh largest in alabama. The ShelbyCounty Board of education employs 1571 professional employees.

Located in the heart of Alabama, Shelby County is the fastest growing county in the state. During the past seven years the county has experienced a yearly growth rate of 34.68%. The County School System is the seventh largest in Alabama. The Shelby County Board of Education employs 1571 professional employees. Including support personnel and bus drivers, a total of 2554 employees maintain the Shelby County School System. There are 8 high schools, 8 middle schools, 14 elementary schools, a School of Technology and the Linda Nolen Learning Center. Three new elementary schools are scheduled to be completed in the Fall of 2000. The new schools are: Meadowview Elementary School, Thompson Intermediate School, and Valley Intermediate School. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited all schools.
