First Annual State Shoot and Fun Day Results
The Alaska State 4-H Shooting Sports program's first annual state shoot was held on July 27, 2002 at the Birchwood Recreation and Shooting Park in Chugiak. The state shoot featured events for air rifle and air pistol, rim-fire rifle, archery, muzzle-loading rifle and shotgun and was open to all 4-Hers registered in a shooting club. It was beginners match, so prior competitive experience was not necessary. The State Shoot was followed by the Alaska 4-H Shooting Sports Fun Shoot Day on July 28. This day was for any 4-Hers to try their hand at shooting sports they have not been exposed to previously, and to introduce others to the Alaska 4-H Shooting Sports program. Workshops, exhibits and displays provided by sponsors, co-operators, state training team members, and coaches were on hand to share their ideas, tips, and techniques.
