Title IX Indian Education Toolkit
Author: Floyd Beller
This toolkit is designed to help both new applicants and continuing grantees complete the federally funded Title IX Indian Education Formula Grant. These formula grants help local education agencies and Indian and Alaska Native tribes provide sound educational programs and opportunities for American Indian and Alaska Native students. However, grantees indicated in a survey by WestEd’s Indigenous Education Collaborative that the grant forms can be difficult to complete. This Title IX Education Toolkit responds to that need. Specifically, it takes users through the grant application with step-by-step tools and tips. Table of Contents

PowerPoint Presentation about GETN (file is approximately 1.4 Mb) The Government Education and Training Network (GETN) is a network of Federal Government agencies using a common satellite carrier for interactive television (1-way video, 2way audio). This interoperable network allows the various user agencies to share distance/distributed learning programs and use common facilities. Audio interaction is achieved using one of two systems: a push-to-talk system provided by A.T. Products (used by all DOD and a few other agencies), or a student response unit provided by One Touch Systems (used mostly by civilian agencies). GETN was conceived and developed in 1992 at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, by the Air Force Institute of Technology’s Center for Distance Education, in partnership with the Army Logistics Management College at Ft Lee Virginia, and with the pioneering efforts in digital technology of the National Technological University of Ft Collins, Colorado. GETN has grown from 2 uplinks in 1993 to 12 digital-Ku-band satellite uplink broadcast centers with 13 video channels available reaching over 800 fixed-dish downlink sites located throughout the CONUS, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

Welcome
Four A's Clients share their stories in our 2002 Annual Report... As the years have passed, HIV/AIDS has evolved and we are entering a new era. It is no longer a little known epidemic but a highly researched disease. When HIV/AIDS was first identified, the longevity of life was gloomy. Now, individuals are living longer and fuller lives because of the medical advances and the support they receive from agencies like ours, the Alaskan AIDS Assistance Association (Four A's). However, these marvelous accomplishments have not made living with HIV/AIDS easier, just different. The Alaskan AIDS Assistance Association continues to reach out to our community and provide quality supportive services to those living with HIV/AIDS in Alaska, as well as prevention and education which is key to ending the transmission of HIV/AIDS and its stigma. On behalf of the clients, family members, staff and board, we want to thank all of you who have so generously supported the Four A's and all of those who will support us in the future.
