Thursday Living Man charged with murder, burning of pregnant wife By Rana Husseini and Atef Itmeh AMMAN - A 30-year-old man is currently in police custody, charged with murdering then burning his pregnant wife in Jerash Governorate late Monday night, according to official sources. The victim - unidentified by officials - was taken to Jerash Government Hospital after neighbours called the Civil Defence Department, one official source said. "The woman was dead when she arrived at the hospital. Her 30-year-old husband claimed his wife fainted and fell on a kerosene heater and died of burns," the source said. However, the source told The Jordan Times that hospital officials became suspicious of the husband's story after detecting bruises on the victim's head. They then transferred the body to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Amman, he added. A government autopsy performed on the victim indicated she had received multiple blows to the head with a blunt object, said a second official.
