Course nd200: OOP (Object Oriented Programming) Concepts for VB and ASP Programmers In this 5-day class, developers will learn about the requirements of an OOP language including such topics as abstraction, encapsulation, polymorphism, and inheritance. This course is designed for developers new to a true OOP language, such as developers currently using Visual Basic 4/5/6. Visual Basic .NET has given us a new set of professional development tools, which include the power of inheritance and polymorphism. In this class you'll learn to leverage these new OOP features to capture the true strength of Visual Basic .NET. Object oriented development and the Unified Modeling Language (UML) have long been the territory of a small exclusive group of programmers. Those outside this select group looked on with very little understanding. However, with the advent of Visual Studio .NET, C#, and the changes in Visual Basic .NET, the world of object oriented analysis, design, and implementation is not only opened to the majority of developers, but absolutely necessary to leverage the power and benefits of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and the .NET revolution. Object oriented development brings a new set of terms, concepts, and approaches to the mainstream of business application support and development. To leverage this power, VB, ASP, and C# programmers must begin the transition process with a solid understanding of not only what OOP is, but what it means in the applications they develop and support.

Introduction to Palm OS Programming

Developing for the Palm OS platform is not merely writing an application that runs on a handheld device. This is an overview of the diffent components that can be part of a Palm OS Solution. It discusses special characteristics of Palm OS handhelds and the way people use their handhelds, plus an introduction to programming books and development support.
Writing an application that runs on a handheld

Handheld applications are small executables designed for a Palm OS handheld but usually created on a Windows or Mac OS desktop computer. They are compiled to the Palm Resource File format (PRC) and usually are installed to the device via a HotSync connection. When creating a handheld application there are a lot of different languages to program in as well as IDEs to choose from. The first step is to decide what tools you want to use, and from there you can jump right in to programming.

4.4. Global DPD Application Programming Interface
Global Dial Pulse Detection uses the same Application Programming Interface (API) model as the standard DPD interface. The Global DPD feature must be implemented on a call-by-call basis. Global DPD must be enabled for each call by calling for the Global DPD feature to work correctly. For any digit detected, you can determine the digit type, DTMF, MF, GTD (user-defined) or DPD, by using the DV_DIGIT data structure in the application. When a call is performed, the digits are collected and transferred to the user's digit buffer. The digits are stored as an array inside the DV_DIGIT structure. This method allows you to determine very quickly whether a pulse or DTMF telephone is being used.
4.4.1. Dial Pulse Detection Digit Type Reporting
As shown in the following table, two defines are provided for identifying the Dial Pulse Detection digit type, depending upon how the digit type is retrieved. #define Digit Type Dial Pulse Detection digit from the DX_EBLK event queue data ( through a DE_DIGITS Call Status Transition event Dial Pulse Detection digit from the DV_DIGIT digit buffer using Obtaining the digit type for DPD digits is valid only in the case when the voice and DPD capabilities are both present on the same board. In the case where a voice board does not support DPD, you cannot detect DPD digits or obtain the DPD digit type even though you can enable DPD and digit type reporting without an error.
