JAMESTOWN archeology For use at CNHP's Jamestown Island and/or home Age kidsin grades 48 and their families This pack explores Jamestown archeology.
Park Packs are backpacks filled with field guides, stories, park maps and tools for investigating the outdoors. Most of the award-winning packs are designed especially for 4th through 8th graders, but can also be enjoyed by the whole family. Topics range from birds and fossils to revolutionary times in Yorktown and Pocahontas. They are available at both library locations and require an adult's library card to check out. Park Packs are a joint venture of the Williamsburg Regional Library Colonial National Historical Park York River State Park and the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities . Call 327-4242 for information. OUTDOOR ARCHEOLOGY SESSION. Old Pueblo Archeology Center. 1000 E. Fort Lowell Road. 798-1201. Kids 7 and older can participate in a mock archeology dig to learn how ancient cultures are discovered and interpreted. The event is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 23. Cost is $6. TUCSON CHILDREN'S MUSEUM. 200 S. Stone Ave. 792-9958. Opening events for the new ocean exhibit take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 23, and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, January 24. Check out the Ocean Discovery Center and Barnacle Bills' Puppet Show. Admission is $5, $4 for seniors and $3 for children. Announcements BUILD-A-BIKE. BICAS Youth Underground Build-A-Bike program is an eight-session program for adults and kids, offering extensive hands-on training for basic bicycle mechanics. In addition to learning new skills, you'll also be helping your community by fixing up old bikes and getting them back on the streets. Students are required to complete a 25-hour apprenticeship and final exam to earn their first bicycle. Classes are from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Class tuition is based on a sliding-scale. Call 628-7950 for registration and information.

Kids Fishing Day 2002 was held June 15, 2002 at Clear Springs Recreation Area of the Homochitto National Forest. This was the tenth year "Hooked on Fishing - Not Drugs" was hosted. While many of the children who participated walked away with contest and door prizes; all participants walked away with a hat and bag of goodies. There were also prizes for a group of kids that picked up trash. Prizes donated from the community included fishing rods/reels, tackle boxes, bait, lawn chairs, and many other fishing related items. This years event was a great success thanks to Franklin Memorial Hospital, the Homochitto National Forest and many in the local community.

Passport to the World: Children's Museum
  • BOY SCOUTS Kick off meeting will start at Gurudwara Sahib Palatine on Friday, August 10th at 7pm boy scouts grades 1-12. If anyone would like to register please join. We also need parental help to run this program. It is parents duty to help in these programs. All leaders are volunteers. It is a very good program. The values these boys will learn will help them in their daily life. It is important to insist them now then later when it will be to late. So act not to enroll your boys. You will be glad you did. It has lot of fun things to do. We just finished 1 year of scouting. We will have some boys to explain their 1 year of experience. For more information please call Amarjit K. Atwal at 847/564-4735.
