Imagining Your Ideal School: An Exercise for Setting Priorities Every family has different needs and priorities when choosing a school. This quick exercise will help you sort through the school characteristics that are most important to you and your child. Click here to read this article in Spanish. By Victoria Thorp, GreatSchools.net Staff Figuring out exactly what you want in a school is not a simple task. When you imagine the ideal school for your child, you may picture colorful classrooms, dynamic teachers and a variety of extracurricular programs. But when you really start to weigh your options, you'll probably discover several practical constraints as well. For example, you may want to find a school that's near your child care provider or close to your workplace. If you have more than one child, you may want them to attend the same school even if they seem suited for different environments. Step-by-Step Guide Get a printable worksheet for this exercise here Use this guide to consider all these important elements side by side. You might even invite your child to join you in this brainstorming process, especially if he has already attended school and has some ideas about what's important to him. Step 1: Brainstorm.

Arts In Education T he Arkansas Arts Council's Arts in Education (AIE) grant program is designed to strengthen the role of the arts in education. AIE grants place professional artists in residencies at specific school sites or in conjunction with other non-profit community organizations to provide a way for the artists to demonstrate their art forms and to share their ideas and talents with site participants. AIE programs are traditionally curriculum based and sequential in nature. AIE also initiates new arts programs in schools and local arts agencies and enhances existing ones by providing direct interaction with working artists in residencies.
Click this link to view the current AIE Artists Roster The AIE also offers a two-day Artists/Teachers Retreat , which is designed to integrate the arts into core curriculum. Grants are available in three categories: FY03 Assistance Fund Grant Application Forms:

Arts in Education Artist Roster The AIE Artist Roster is a listing of professional artists who are available to participate in the various Arts in Education programs.
