... Writing and Publishing About Us About Suite University Become a Course Author Become a SuiteU Affiliate Contact Us Course: Advanced Stenciling Stenciling 101 covered the basics - lining up your stencil and applying it to a hard surface. Now, in Advanced Stenciling, we move to advanced techniques using other media, unusual rather than traditional stencils, etc. Glazes instead of acrylic paints; fabric paints, extenders, opalescent powders, textured paint, Elmer's glue, embossing paste and plaster (for dimensional stenciling), embossing powder and more. And I want to show people how to take their skills to new surfaces such as textiles and glass. Non-Traditional stencils include things like lace and doilies, creative masking tape, reverse stenciling around things like leaves. We'll also look at embossing stencils and those made for plaster and faux finishes. New techniques include shaded glazing, easy faux finishing, dimensional stenciling, paper embossing and coloring, textile and glass stenciling and plaster stencils. I also include a unit on cutting your own stencils and hints on designing them. Introduction Course: Adventures in Impressionism Impressionism is one of the most important art movements of the 19th and 20th century. Go to any great art gallery in Europe and North America and you’ll find paintings by the Impressionists. In fact, at some art galleries, such as the Musee d’Orsay in Paris, you’ll see more Impressionist paintings per square foot than anywhere else on earth. Wouldn’t it be great to know something about all this wonderful art?
