63. Deanna's World: Reflections Of The Renaissance
Underlines the creativity of the Renaissance by including artwork, literature, historical facts, and specific biographical information. Featured artists include Leonardo Da Vinci, michelangelo, and Raphael.
http://www.dworldonline.com/ren.htm
The Renaissance was an era of beautiful artwork and structures which flourished all over western Europe. Although it began in Italy where there was always a residue of classical-styled architecture, it might have been expected to appear first in Rome. During the 14th and early 15th centuries, however, Rome's political situation was very unfavorable for artistic endeavor, unlike that of Florence.
The early Renaissance in Rome was rapidly approaching the simplicity, monumentality, and massiveness of the High Renaissance of the early 16th century. It renounced the exploits of the Medieval master-mansions, and defined beauty as fidelity at the expense of all other considerations. Some of the most noted artists, architects, and sculptors of the High Renaissance include Donato Bramante, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
In essence, the Renaissance was a time period in which stunning sculptures, buildings, and artwork flourished all over western Europe. It was one of the high points of humanism and the expression of creativity and beauty of life. This book clearly states the life of lots of the artists in the book, but not enough on their art related life. The book is intresting, but not the best book in the world. This book is good for reports, and has almost every artist you can think of. I think that this book is good if you are reading it for a reason, but if you are reading it because you have no other books to read, then it might get boring. HallArchitects.com

What is hip-hop bass? Is it a two-bar James Brown sample looped ad infinitum? A huge low-end upright ostinato? An obscure synth figure posing as an obscure bass figure?
The answer, according to Black Eyed Peas’ Michelangelo Fratantuno, isn’t that cut and dried. "Hip-hop bass is pocket and feel," says Michelangelo—Mike to his friends. "It’s listening and space. It’s about what you’re leaving for someone else to fill up. It’s machine-like—you want to maintain that boom-bap. "
Mike hooked up with the California-based rap crew in 1995. "I’d been into rap since I was a kid. I was around during Grandmaster Flash, Run-D.M.C., and all the Old School stuff—but I never suspected I’d be in a hip-hop band. I was trying to do something more technical, like Fishbone." Joining a rap rhythm section hastened his musical growth immeasurably. "The hip-hop thing advanced my playing to the point that I don’t have to play a lot. It gave me a better understanding of putting space between the notes—just laying in the pocket and trying to underscore what the vocalists do."
Hip-hop has also taught Mike how to fill the vital role of musical traffic cop. "Onstage I’m focused on keeping some sort of control, even in the face of a freestyle improv. I listen to all the different pieces—the vocalists, keys, guitar, the D.J., the drummer—and I try to pull it all together with a groove—something that’s solid. That way, when the audience hears that bass coming in, they’ll be like, ‘Awww, yeah, there’s my pulse.’"

Context Michelangelo Buonarroti , more commonly known as simply Michelangelo, is regarded as one of the greatest figures of the Italian Renaissance . Although Michelangelo mastered a number of media, including painting, architecture, and poetry, he always considered himself to be a sculptor first and foremost. Michelangelo's tremendous talent was almost immediately recognized, as evidenced by the two enormously respectful biographies written in his own lifetime: The Life of Michelangelo by his student

I cannot lie. There is nothing more tantalising than a robust, firmly sculptured male posterior. The particular derriere that I’m fixated on the moment is as hard and chiselled as marble...literally. David and I haven’t known each other for long, and he is slightly older than I am (he was born over 500 years ago) but I feel we have a real connection. Unfortunately, so do a billion other people in this world who have been to his private boudoir at the musee del accadamadia in Florence, Italy. Michelangelo’s David has been dubbed the personification of male perfection, and the perfect composition of a classical sculpture. If not for the fact that the sculpture is a colossal 4.42 meters tall, one could be excused for thinking it was a real (and magnificent) man painted all over in a very thin coat of white out. Every human detail is carved and magnified, from the veins that train along his arms to the strained appearance of the tendons at his neck as his head turns. And even though every female (and surely some males) that enter the room to stare (and drool) over him know that he is, in fact, just a sculpture, they could be excused from reaching out a tentative finger, defying the heavy and angry Italian guards, just to make sure. David was carved at the peak of Michelangelo’s early period, between 1501-1504. He was commissioned to sculpt a statue of David by the
