YPSILANTI - Eastern Michigan University's athletic program has adapted their schedule for this upcoming weekend, in light of the recent tragedy in New York City and Washington D.C. Eastern Michigan University Athletics Director Dave Diles has announced that Saturday's (Sept. 15) Mid-American Conference football game at the University of Akron has been postponed and tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 24, in Akron, Ohio. "This has been an ever changing situation," Diles said. "We anticipated yesterday (Sept. 12) that more than half of the NCAA Division I-A schools were going to play this weekend after being encouraged to do so by President Bush. After a thorough decision that included talking to our coaches, student-athletes and support staff, we felt it was the right thing to do playing this weekend. However, in the light of the national sentiment about not playing, along with the NFL's decision not to play, we did not want our event to be interpreted as disrespectful so we have postponed our game with Akron." The women's golf team, scheduled to play in the Mary Fossum/Spartan Invitational, was cancelled by host Michigan State.

The University of Southern California is proud of its great tradition in intercollegiate athletics. We are committed to achieving at the highest levels on the playing fields and in the classroom, while abiding by all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules. Our athletic program would not be where it is today without the support of loyal alumni and friends like you. Your support is equally important to our compliance effort. As an NCAA member, USC is responsible for the actions of those whom the NCAA considers "representatives of it's athletics interests," traditionally known as boosters. This guide has been developed to provide you with the basic information concerning the NCAA rules, and to answer questions you may have regarding the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and contact with currently enrolled student-athletes. By assisting USC in rules compliance, you are helping preserve the integrity of Trojan Athletics, and protecting the athletic eligibility of our student-athletes. Indeed, if a well-meaning but misguided fan or booster commits a violation, USC will be held responsible, and the consequences can include bans on post-season competition and TV coverage.
