Welcome
The University College of the Cariboo has one of the most comprehensive and successful athletic programs in B.C. at the University College level. We participate in the B.C. Colleges Athletic Association and have teams in all seven sports offered in the Association. For the first time since 1985, UCC captured the BCCAA Aggregate Championship Trophy, which is awarded to the BCCAA school with the most accumulated points over the course of the competitive season. The calibre and quality of play at their level are very high. UCC offers a variety of full university degrees so our athletes are staying with us for their entire athletic eligibility. The Athletic Department is known for its friendly, open door philosophy, so our athletes feel at home immediately. Just ask those who study in our student-athlete lounge every day. UCC registration and course selection is based on those who apply first. UCC will not be accepting first year applications after March 1st, 2003. The UCC website to apply on-line is www.cariboo.bc.ca

Turpin and Mahon Named Bison Athletes of the Year March 28 - Tonight at the Bison Sports Awards Banquet, the 2002-2003 Athletes of the Year and team M.V.P.'s were named. With many fine performances by several athletes in a variety of sports, this year's selection process was a difficult one, but in the end, as has been the case for the past number of years, two volleyball players took home the hardware as the top student-athletes here at the University of Manitoba. For the fifth straight year, a Bison men's volleyball player has taken home the award as Bison Male Athlete of the Year with the nod going to middle blocker Pete Turpin The Female Athlete of the Year is Tammy Mahon , marking the sixth straight year that a women's volleyball player has received the award. One of the hardest working and best all-around athletes to compete for Manitoba in recent memory, the native of Holland, Manitoba was named a First Team All-Canadian as well as a Canada West First team All-Star after finishing eighth in the conference in kill efficiency percentage with a mark of 23.7% and seventh in digs per game with 3.19. Mahon was also named the Bison MVP of the Duckworth Challenge, a match in which she recorded 18 kills and 16 digs. Over the course of the past five years, the Physical Education student has accumulated numerous individual awards, but most importantly she leaves the program as a proven winner with 1 CIS bronze medal, one silver and two CIS Championships to her credit.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Bobcats season has ended with a tough surprise. After being swept by the Regina Cougars, the Cat's waited in anticipation as the wildcard for Canada West Finals was announced on Monday. Surprisingly - it was the Trinity Western University Spartans who were chosen over the Cat's and the U of C Dinos (both ranked in the top 10). TWU finished with the same record as Brandon, but failed to make it into the Top 10 most of the season. The Bobcats have been ranked all-year (minus a week) and seemed to have an advantage over the Dinos who had just recently reached the top 10.. (Canada West Home more)
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The women finished with two losses at Simon Fraser to end the Season. Another tough Season for the lady 'Cats, and the final one for long-time Bobcat Heather Couzens. Coach's Pennell and Scott will immediately begin recruiting for what will be a much more experienced 2003-04 team.
