Tim Russert , senior vice president and Washington Bureau chief of NBC News, also serves as moderator of MEET THE PRESS and as a political analyst for NBC Nightly News and the Today Show. In addition, he anchors The Tim Russert Show, a weekly program on CNBC examining the role of the media in American society.
Since joining NBC News in 1984, Mr. Russert has interviewed a notable array of major American political figures, including President Bill Clinton, Ross Perot, Bob Dole, Newt Gingrich, Al Gore, Jesse Jackson, Pat Buchanan, Jack Kemp and Colin Powell. He has also covered eight U.S./Russia Summits. In 1990, he oversaw production of the primetime news special A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT BUSH, and, in 1993, A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT CLINTON. In 1994, Mr. Russert was nominated for the cable industry's prestigious Cable Ace Award as "Best Interviewer."
Admitted to the bar in New York State and the District of Columbia, he has lectured at more than 30 colleges, universities and institutions around the country. Mr. Russert received the John Peter Zenger Award from the New York State Bar Association and the Distinguished Graduate Award from the National Catholic Educator's Association.
