`Abdu'l-Baha O My servants! There shineth nothing else in Mine heart except the unfading light of the Morn of Divine guidance, and out of My mouth proceedeth naught but the essence of truth, which the Lord your God hath revealed. Follow not, therefore, your earthly desires, and violate not the Covenant of God, nor break your pledge to Him. With firm determination, with the whole affection of your heart, and with the full force of your words, turn ye unto Him, and walk not in the ways of the foolish. The world is but a show, vain and empty, a mere nothing, bearing the semblance of reality. Set not your affections upon it. Break not the bond that uniteth you with your Creator, and be not of those that have erred and strayed from His ways.

Quotes About Spirituality

Bahá'í Faith: The history of the Bahá'í Faith in India started with the inception of the Faith in Iran when Bahá’u’lláh appointed one of the Indian believers as the 'Letter of Living' in 1844-45, the first year of His Ministry. Since then, India is spiritually connected with the Bahá’i Faith. He dispatched one of the distinguished Bahá'í teachers, Jamal Effendi, to teach the Cause of God in the years 1874-75. Jamal Effendi travelled to various parts of India and was successful in attracting many learned people to the Faith. In the beginning of this century, in the early twenties, a few Local Spiritual Assemblies were formed in the primary Indian cities, and by 1944, India had 24 Spiritual Assemblies. At the present, in the 26 Indian States, the Indian Bahá'í Community has 24 State Baha'í Councils, the state level Bahá'í administrative institutions, managing the affairs of over 1450 Local Spiritual Assemblies (locally elected Bahá'i Institutions), and over 2.3 million believers spread over 31829 localities in all parts of the country. India was the 6th country to have the Baha'i Faith introduced to it. The Faith was introduced to the following countires in order: Iraq, Persia, Burma, Caucasus, Egypt, India, Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Turkey and Turkistan.

EARLY HISTORY
In May of 1844, a young Persian by the name of Siyyid `Ali Muhammad declared that He was the promised Qa'im of Shi'ah Islam. He assumed the title of The Bab (Gate). The Bab's mission was twofold: He first announced to the people of His native land His own station as an independent Messenger and He also prepared the way for the coming of another Manifestation (messenger) of God, a Prophet who would announce His station soon after The Bab. The next six years marked a dramatic increase in both the number of persons who became followers of the Bab and in the energy spent by the Shi'ah clergy of Iran to stamp out this new religion. Eventually 20,000 Babis would be put to death for their beliefs. The Bab Himself was imprisoned and was executed in July of 1850.

Antinomies.... 1996 - 2000
One of William Butler Yeats' Frustrators came to me in the night and recited, "All the gains of man come from conflict with the opposite of his true being. Has not Baha'u'llah taught you this?"
Upon waking, I was somewhat disturbed by this revelation and rummaged around my study for my copy of A Vision , whereupon I read, "Dante suffering injustice and the loss of Beatrice, found divine justice and the heavenly Beatrice...."
I fell upon my knees and recited the Tablet of Ahmad....
Antinomy is presupposed. There is tragedy in Baha'u'llah's writings, tragedy Bahais like you (I mean no insult) typically fail to understand.
The lack of complexity is what concerns me, and the lack of acknowledgment of proportion.
It has never truly healed the patient. Baha'u'llah, unlike Baha'is, understands the condition is terminal....
Ecclesiastes perceived it long ago: "The heart of the sons of men is full of evil." Similarly, in "Young Goodman Brown," Hawthorne wrote, "Evil is the Nature of Mankind."
In Some Answered Questions , Abdul-Baha says evil "continues and endures." Not at all an upbeat modern concept full of psychological hope, delusion really....

We are Bahá'ís - members of the Bahá'í Faith, the second most widespread of the world's independent religions, established in 235 countries and territories throughout the world. We live in the East Leeward Islands; the islands of Antigua, Barbuda and Montserrat in the West Indies. Please click on the islands above, to learn more about each island. The central theme of Bahá'u'lláh's message, the prophet-founder of The Bahá'í Faith, is that humanity is one single race and that the day has come for its unification in one global society. God, Bahá'u'lláh said, has set in motion historical forces that are breaking down traditional barriers of race, class, creed, and nation and that will, in time, give birth to a universal civilization.

Orthodox Bahai Faith
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The Orthodox Bahá'í Faith is a movement which started within the Baha'i Faith, though now independent of it, with a total membership estimated at up to a few thousand. Although the beliefs of the main division and the Orthodox Bahá'ís are for the most part identical, they differ on the issue of ongoing leadership. Between the years 1957 and 1960, the Bahá'í Faith underwent a severe test of succession. The majority of Bahá'ís, under the Hands of the Cause of God (a group of Bahá'ís that included Mason Remey, and that was appointed by Shoghi Effendi according to the provisions of `Abdu’l-Bahá's Will and Testament) followed the Hands' leadership of the Faith. During that time Mason Remey attempted to change the plan of his fellow Hands who had determined to elect the Universal House of Justice mentioned by both Baha'u'llah and Abdul-Baha . Mason believed that, according to the Writings, the Universal House of Justice was to have a living Guardian as its head. The plan set up by the Hands specifically eliminated the possibility of a future Guardian. The belief as to whether there was a living Guardian, and whether the Universal House of Justice could properly function without a living Guardian was the basis for the division which followed.

37. The Bahai Faith
The bahai faith The Bahai had foretold. He also took the name Bahaullah(Glory of GOD) and formed a new religion, the bahai faith.
http://www.answering-christianity.com/bahai_faith.htm
The Bahai Faith: The Bahai faith is not a sect of Islam but is an offshoot of the Babi religion, a group in Persia that broke away from the Shia branch of Islam in 1844. The leader of the Babis was Mirza Ali Mohammad of Shiraz, who proclaimed himself the Bab (the gate) and the Imam-Mahdi (rightly guided leader) from the line of Muhammad peace be upon him. He was executed by the Persian authorities in 1850. In 1863 Mirza Hoseyn Ali Nuri, a prominent member of the Babi group, declared himself to be the person whom GOD will make manifest, whom the Bab had foretold. He also took the name Bahaullah (Glory of GOD) and formed a new religion, the Bahai faith. Bahaullah was banished from Persia and was eventually imprisoned in Akka-Palestine. There he wrote his main work, al-kitab al-aqdas (The Most Holy Book), and developed the doctrine of the Bahai faith into a comprehensive teaching. At Bahaullah's death, the leadership of the fledgling religion passed to his son Abdulbaha, then to his great grandson, Shoghi Effendi Rabbani, and in 1963 to an elected administrative body known as the Universal House of Justice. Bahais believe that GOD has revealed Himself to man by means of Divine Manifestations, including Abraham, Moses, Krishna, Zoroaster, the Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad, the Bab, and Bahaullah. They believe that these messengers were provided to guide mankind through an evolutionary process in which the appearance of the Bab initiated a new age for mankind. The Bahais say that to date is message is the fullest revelation of GOD's will and that it is the primary GOD given instrument that will make world unity possible.

About the Bahá'í Faith
The Bahá'í Faith originated in Persia, which is now modern day Iran, in 1844, and is the world's newest independent religion. The Encyclopedia Britannica has recognized the Bahá'í Faith as the second-most widely spread independent religion in the world following Christianity and it is present in over 200 independent countries and territories numbering some six million adherents. To be a Baha'i is to be a follower of Bahá'u'lláh, who Bahá'ís believe to be the latest, and certainly not the last, in a succession of God's messengers to mankind. As Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Christ, Muhammad, and the Báb each appeared to the world in a different time in history, Bahá'u'lláh's appearance carries the message of God's for today's humanity.
The essential message of Bahá'u'lláh is "unity", and is evident in his writings which include over 100 major tablets, epistles, and messages which were revealed to the world during His Ministry, which ended in 1892 upon his passing. The essential pivotal principle of his teachings is the Oneness of Mankind, and it is to this noble concept that all of his followers in communities and groups throughout the world adhere, and strive to practice in their daily lives.
Bahá'u'lláh's message of unity extends to the Oneness of Religions which affirms the essential message proclaimed by all of God's Messengers that there is but One God. He has also given mankind guidelines for interactions among the people of the world including the elimination of all forms of prejudice, the essential equality of women and men, the harmony of science and religion, the necessity for each to independently investigate the essential truth of religion, and the need for a universal auxiliary language and the establishment of a world commonwealth of nations.

40. Bahai: What Is The Bahai Faith?
Bahai What is the bahai faith? The name bahai faith is derived from thattitle. The world headquarters of the bahai faith is in Haifa, Israel.
http://www.bmedia.co.za/faq/bahai.htm
Bahai: What is the Bahai faith?
The Bahai faith originated in Iran (Persia) in 1844 when a Moslem, Mirza 'Ali Muhammed, announced that he was the forerunner of the World Teacher, who would appear to unite mankind and bring a new era of peace. He assumed the title of "Bab" (the Persian word for "Gate"). He was prosecuted and executed by the Moslems and the Persian Government for forming a new Moslem sect. One of his disciples, Mirza Husayn 'Ali, when an exile in Baghdad, proclaimed himself the prophesied World Teacher and took the name Baha'u'llah which means "The Glory of God". The name Bahai faith is derived from that title. The world headquarters of the Bahai faith is in Haifa, Israel. If we condense the teachings of this faith, we find that they revolve around three basic principles: 1. The oneness of God.
2. The oneness of religion.
3. The oneness of mankind. The "Bab" taught that he replaced Muhammed as God's prophet and that he formed a new universal religion based on a new book, Kitab-Akdas. This "new religion" means according to the Baha'u'llah: 1. The independent search after truth, unhindered by superstition or tradition.
