Baha'i World Center web address
I received an email from someone in the National Teaching Committee office saying that they were excited about a suggestion a believer had sent in for a T-shirt with the World Center address on it. Could I consider designing something like this? Well, you know how I feel about requests from National CommitteesI said "of course". Small type under the address says "for a better world". The web address is big enough to read from a distance but not too overwhelming. Wear this jogging, in parades, or even at the office. Royalties go to the Kingdom Project. On white only.

Hooray for the Planet Uplifting artwork for this T-shirt is done by John Burns. The design depicts a smiling, happy planet waving international flags while surrounded by stars and confetti. Great for world citizen events and international activities. This design will delight both adults and children.

Founded a century and a half ago, the Bahai faith is today among the fastest growing of world religions. With more than five million followers in at least 232 countries and dependent territories, it has already become the second-most widespread faith, surpassing every religion but Christianity in its geographic reach. Bahai's reside in more than 116,000 localities around the world, an expansion that reflects their dedication to the ideal of world citizenship. The Bahai Faith's global scope is mirrored in the composition of its membership. Representing a cross section of humanity, Bahais come from virtually every nation, ethnic group, culture, profession and social or economic class. More than 2,100 different ethnic and tribal groups are represented. Since it also forms a single community, free of schism or factions, the Bahai Faith comprises what is very likely the most diverse and widespread organized body of people on earth. The Faith's Founder was Bahaa'u'llaah, a Persian nobleman from Teheran who, in the mid-nineteenth century, gave up a princely existence of comfort and security for a life of persecution and deprivation. Bahaa'u'llaah claimed to be nothing less than a new and independent Messenger from God. His life, work and influence parallel that of Abraham, Krishna, Moses, Zoro-aster, Buddha, Christ, and Muhammad. Bahais view Bahaa'u'llaah as the most recent in this succession of Divine Messengers. This is the Day in which God's most excellent favors have been poured out upon men, the Day in which His most mighty grace hath been infused into all created things, wrote Bahaa'u'llaah. The essential message of Bahaa'u'llaah is that of unity. He taught that there is only one God, that there is only one human race, and that all the world's religions have been stages in the revelation of God's will and purpose for humanity. In this day, Bahaa'u'llaah said, humanity has collectively come of age. As foretold in all of the world's scriptures, the time has arrived for the uniting of all peoples into a peaceful and integrated global society. The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens, He wrote. This concludes the Introduction section. Please use the following menu options to navigate around this site.

Baha'i Faith Below is an article written in 1990 for a home schooling newsletter. I posted the article on this website in February of 2000. I've made some changes to the article (March 2001) based on email from adherents to Baha'i Faith. I have no problem correcting items of fact. Of course, I want to be factually correct. I have seen much in Evangelical Christian literature and "folklore" that is just plain untrue when it comes to describing non- Christian groups. And I want to be fair in properly representing any particular group I am critiquing. But on other issues that are more subjective, I can't just let the adherents construct the debate. For example, if a Baha'i adherent says they do believe in the deity of Jesus, I have to examine that independently and decide if what they mean by that is really what I understand the Bible to be saying. I don't think that the Baha'i Faith concept of the divinity of Jesus is anywhere near the Biblical concept of the absolute uniqueness of Jesus being God in human flesh. I have found it interesting that, in a time when most are being indoctrinated to believe that there are many paths to God, Baha'i Faith teaches there is one path. But according to the Bible, I consider it to be a false path, a false gospel. Baha'i Faith public relations emphasizes the unity of all the world's religions, but then you realize that it's only under the umbrella of

BAHA'I TEACHINGS
Some of the basic principles of the Baha'i Faith are: 1. The oneness of mankind "It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens." Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 250. 2. The oneness of religion "All these divisions we see on all sides, all these disputes and opposition, are caused because men cling to ritual and outward observances, and forget the simple, underlying truth. It is the outward practices of religion that are so different, and it is they that cause disputes and enmity while the reality is always the same, and one. The Reality is the Truth, and truth has no division. Truth is God's guidance, it is the light of the world, it is love, it is mercy. These attributes of truth are also human virtues inspired by the Holy Spirit." `Abdu'l-Baha, Paris Talks, pp. 120-1. 3. Independent investigation of truth

50. 02 Bahai Faith In Tasmania
The Bahá'í Faith in Tasmania 19231963. Graham Hassall. It has met with considerablesuccess and has won many friends for the Faith in Tasmania.
http://bahai-library.org/asia-pacific/02bahai Faith in Tasmania.htm
The Bahá'í Faith in Tasmania 1923-1963 Graham Hassall From Iceland to Tasmania, from Vancouver to the China Sea spreads the radiance and extend the ramifications of this world-enfolding System, this many-hued and firmly-knit Fraternity, infusing into every man and woman it has won to its cause a faith, a hope, and a vigor that a wayward generation has long lost, and is powerless to recover... Shoghi Effendi's reference to Tasmania in his essay "The Unfoldment of World Civilisation" of March 1936 was no mere rhetorical flourish. It signifies, rather, the worth of this small community (and others like it) within the global spread of the Teachings of Bahá'u'llah. Appreciation of the origins and growth of such a Bahá'í community, in an historical sense, requires close observation of its individual members and its institutions, and the contexts within which these acted. Thus, the task in this essay is to account for the progress of the Tasmanian Bahá'í community in the forty years after Hyde Dunn's first visit to Hobart in August 1923. In considering patterns in the growth of Bahá'í communities, Peter Smith has suggested that those in Western societies have evolved through four phases: an initial stage of "universality", in which Bahá'í is regarded as the "spirit of the age"; followed by a period of increased emphasis on organisation, criterion of membership, and the establishment of stable and efficient administration; then a third phase of systematic plans for expansion and administrative consolidation; and finally, a phase of significantly higher rates of growth.

Speaking as someone who was asked to write a number of articles for the
encyclopedia project and did, I would have been happy to post something
about its revival on Talisman if anyone had told me it had been revived.
The first I heard about it was reading the article in TAB yesterday.
Obviously, for there to be an article in TAB the revival happened some
time ago but there does not seem to have been any hurry to inform those who spent the time and energy to write the articles. Perhaps before suggesting we authors are keeping stuff to ourselves, a simple enquiry as to whether we know anything about what is going on would be an idea? Or an enquiry to Rob as to his not having given the news on Talisman? Baha'i Faith: An Introduction
Baha'i (also spelled Bahai ) is a faith founded by Baha'u'llah, and is based on the tenets of the unity of all religions and humanity. Baha'is perceive God as an essence that manifests in numerous ways and is a religion without a clergy. Each individual practicing in Baha'i is encouraged to look into religious teachings with an unbiased mind and be responsible for his or her own beliefs and actions. Spiritual assemblies are elected to carry on various activities such as marriages and funerals. Baha'is often meet for small group discussions called "firesides" and observe various Holy Days such as the birth and death of the Bab and Baha'u'llah (see below). Fasting is observed, from March 2 through March 20, when Baha'is abstain from all food and drink from sunrise to sunset. The Baha'i Faith (Bahai Faith) also has the institution of obligatory prayer; Baha'is are obligated to say one of three obligatory prayers each day. Baha'i teachings have as their goal the improvement of the conditions of human life. Baha'i is the outgrowth of a movement within Islam known as Babism. There are over 5 million Baha'is thoughout the world, with large followings in Iran, India, Europe, and the United States.
