Visual Basic .NET: New Programming Model and Language Enhancements Boost Development Power
Ted Pattison This article assumes you're familiar with Visual Basic Level of Difficulty Download the code for this article: SUMMARY Visual Basic .NET is the result of a significant rebuild of Visual Basic for the Microsoft .NET Framework. There are a number of changes that make Visual Basic .NET easier to use, more powerful than Visual Basic 6.0, and give it the kind of access to system resources that in the past required the use of languages like C++. One of the most important additions is object inheritance. In Visual Basic .NET, all managed types derive from System.Object.
An important new language feature is garbage collection, which is administered by the Common Language Runtime and provides better memory management. The universal type system allows for greater interoperability, also contributing to the enhanced power and flexibility found in Visual Basic .NET.
It is also important to know that Visual Basic .NET omits quite a few forms of syntax that were used in previous versions of Visual Basic. This means code written in Visual Basic 6.0 will not compile until you make a number of modifications. Furthermore, writing the best possible code in Visual Basic .NET usually involves using features and syntax that are not supported in Visual Basic 6.0. As a result, migrating Visual Basic 6.0 projects to Visual Basic .NET typically requires a rewrite rather than a simple port.

So, I had a big long rant about how great Democrats are for reducing Bush's ridiculous tax cut by 50% and how Democrats are in there fighting for working families... However I have decided that the accomplishments by Democrats speak for themselves and require no further endorsement. On another note, I lost an enitire post thanks to Adelphia.... Post a Reply 0 Replies. Kevin // 3.20.03 // 9:15 PM // War... Why did it have to come to this? How did the greed of the country's elite bring our nation to this point? The US has alienated the UN, alienated Europe and alienated its own people. An immoral war based on morals. A new "stable" country based on an instablity. The right, sensing outrage from the true moral majority, has changed the subject of the war from disarmament to saving the Iraqi people. It is clear that they had no case as far as WMD are concerned. Inspectors are clearly the superior alternative to war in that arena. However, now they claim that they are liberating the Iraqi people. (while Oil companies move in for over $1.5 billion in oil contracts and untold amounts of profits that lurk beneath the deserts..) I want to know one thing: Do two wrongs make a right?

ARM ASSEMBLER
If a search engine brought you here, and you are looking for x86 assembler, then you are VERY much in the wrong place. Instead, you may find this resource useful ..... http://webster.cs.ucr.edu/ These documents relate to the low-power high-performance ARM processors used in PDAs, mobile phones, Gameboy Advance, and of course the RISC OS computer range (formerly made by Acorn Computers, Cambridge, UK). A lot of the detail relates to programming the ARM within the RISC OS environment, but it should also serve as a general resource for those programming the ARM under any system. Please note, however, that the 'Thumb' instruction set is not described. If you don't want to read all of this on-line, you can download a Zip archive and read it off-line! Scroll down to the archives heading...
In front, an ARM610 (33MHz) processor and support circuitry on a RiscPC processor card.
The RiscPC can accept two processors, the card behind the ARM being an Intel 486SXL-40
also clocked at 33MHz. Note the incredible size difference between the two processors.
On the left, an ARM710 processor card with a British 10 pence coin to give you an idea of size.
