COLLEGE OF SAINT MARY
Transfer Course Equivalencies
Updated March 2003 Following is a list of current course equivalents between College of Saint Mary and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; credit at NU is stated in semester hours. If a specific UNL course equivalent has not been identified, other notations are used.
  • GNCR; course transfers as UNL general hours
  • SUBJ; course transfers as subject area hours (e.g., ENGLXXX, MATHXXX) not assigned to a specific course
  • NDAP; excess transfer course hours which are included in the equivalency and generally not degree-applicable
  • VCRD; vocational/skill development course: limited application to a UNL degree
  • HSCR; course is high school or remedial level; hours and course do not transfer
Contact your NU college to determine whether a course will be applicable to your intended major. While every effort is made to keep this list up to date, courses may be added or deleted at any time. Courses not listed may also be transferable and degree applicable. Equivalencies are date-specific and dependent upon when the course was taken. Equivalencies no longer in effect are not included in the list, but will be included in NU's evaluation of transfer credit if taken during the period the equivalency was in effect. In some cases, two or more transfer courses may be needed to achieve the equivalent of a UNL course. For an official evaluation of transfer credits, students are encouraged to apply for admission to NU, and submit complete high school and post-secondary transcripts. Begin your search for courses by selecting one of College of Saint Mary's subject abbreviations:

Statement on 30th Anniversary

Mr. Chairman, Senator Gregg, and members of the Committee, I appreciate your invitation to join you today, because it gives me the opportunity to discuss one of the most important civil rights laws in our nation's history: Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. As you know, we just celebrated the 30th anniversary of this landmark legislation. Without a doubt, Title IX has opened the doors of opportunity for generations of women and girls to compete, to achieve, and to pursue their American dreams. Many of the people in this room today are too young to remember what the world was like prior to 1972 when Title IX became the law of the land and prohibited schools that receive federal funds from discriminating on the basis of sex. Back then, it was not uncommon for high school girls to be "steered" to courses that narrowed their future options. High schools routinely excluded girls from classes that stood to give them the skills to compete for higher paying jobs.

  • Lou Holtz and Eddie Fogler, the football and basketball coaches at South Carolina joined the coaches at Clemson, Tommy Bowden and Larry Shyatt in a protest of the Confederate Flag flying over the South Carolina statehouse. About 30 people were in the "Get In Step" march that is scheduled to end in a rally today (Thursday) at the state capital. Ordinarily, I would say that this is a positive and courageous step, but let’s look at it. Black athletes are the bread and butter for major sports, and if any of these coaches every want to recruit a black player any time soon, the coaches need to take a stand, even if it is just a symbolic one, against the flag. While the flag is a terrible image, I would feel better if the state didn’t send Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms back to the Senate. That would be a triumph! Oh those wacky Australians. Organizers of the Sydney Summer Games have triggered a ticketing fiasco admitting that the oversized souvenir tickets do not fit in the turnstiles at most venues. Furthermore, the tickets are also not bar coded which renders scanners useless and means that tickets cannot be cancelled or replaced, which is a problem if tickets are lost, stolen, or damaged. It looks like chaos reigns and the Olympics are still four months away.

CAMP BROCHURES
NCAA Bylaws 13.13 (Sports Camps and Clinics), 12.5.1.7 (Camp Brochures) and 13.4.1-c (Printed Recruiting Materials)
Introduction.
A number of NCAA rules and interpretations cover sports camps and the brochures used to advertise those camps. Errors in producing sports camps brochures can be costly both in terms of money spent and in attendance at the camp. Generally speaking, brochures should contain only information and materials specifically related to camp events and activities. It is permissible to use a student-athete's name, picture, and institutional affiliation to identify the student-athlete as a staff member. Camp brochures may be sent to prospective student-athletes at any time, including prior to September 1 at the beginning of their junior year. The chart below lists several Ivy and NCAA interps regarding this issue. What is Permissible?

AL ATTLES, LEGENDARY NBA GUARD
Attles has witnessed it all during his lengthy NBA career with the Warriors as a player, coach and executive – the exciting wins, the disappointing losses and the magical 1974-75 championship season. He was around to see Wilt Chamberlain's intimidating presence, Nate Thurmond's defensive prowess, Rick Barry's offensive explosions and the excitement of "Run-TMC." Furthermore, he is one of only five players in club history to have his jersey retired (#16) and remains one of the most recognizable sports figures in the Bay Area.
Legendary Warriors guard Al Attles was involved in one of the most memorable games in NBA history, 40 years ago on March 2, 1962, when he and teammate Wilt Chamberlain combined for 117 points against the New York Knicks, the most ever by a pair of players in league annals. In that game, Attles tallied 17 points (8-8 FG, 1-1 FT), while Chamberlain netted an all-time NBA record 100 points.
