    Course booklet and extensive article collection held on short loan in Library. Explore the country map below for trip photographs and town plans. Being a modern country that is relatively small, Belgium has a well developed and efficient transport network. As a result, students have the ability to travel (mainly by train) to the contrasting areas and return to base during one day. Indeed, thanks to the Channel Tunnel, entrance to the country itself is done by , with a journey direct from London to Brussels, pushing a speed of 180 m.p.h. on its way! The aim of the trip is for students to assess the urban and social fabric of this physically and linguistically 'divided' country, and how it fits in with its current role in the , as it is home to the Union's headquarters. Excursions are made to the fen-like Flemish speaking northern region, Flanders, and the wooded and hilly French speaking southern region, Wallonia.     Systematics and Geography of Plants (SGP) is the home journal of the National Botanic Garden of Belgium ( BR ). It is an international journal devoted to the systematics of all plant groups and fungi, also covering related fields such as phytogeography, evolution, comparative morphology, pollen and spores, and vegetation studies. It publishes original research papers (especially those with regional emphasis on Western Europe and tropical Africa), review articles, short communications, and book reviews. It continues, from volume 68(1999) onwards, the "Bulletin du Jardin Botanique National de Belgique/Bulletin van de Nationale Plantentuin van België". The journal was founded in 1902 on the initiative of E. De Wildeman and continued by W. Robyns, F. Demaret, R. Tournay (1967-1972), and A. Robyns(1973-1998). Indexed in : Bibliography of Systematic Mycology - Biological Abstracts - Elsevier BIOBASE / Current Awareness in Biological Sciences - Index of Fungi - Index Kewensis - The Kew Record of Taxonomic Literature.
