To build new trails, trailheads and other facilities for horsemen. To maintain and preserve existing trails - wilderness or urban. To promote educational programs in safety, courtesy and environmental awareness. To preserve access for Canadians to use horses and mules on public lands.

At times, outnumbered on the trails and at hearings where land use decisions are made, retaining our rights of access and use of the backcountry requires a unified, coordinated effort. Although most users groups accept equine use; there are some that would like to see equine prohibited in wilderness areas. Join the organization that is working for you, to protect and expand your riding opportunities. All trail riding enthusiasts are welcome!

Nanoose Background
  • The Nanoose Bay torpedo testing range located in the Georgia Strait off Vancouver Island, (officially the Canadian Forces Maritime Experimental Test Range) has been operating since 1967, testing torpedoes, sonar, sonobuoys and other maritime warfare equipment. Ottawa allows foreign governments - principally the U.S. Navy - to use the facilities. Nanoose Bay has four test ranges, the most important called Whiskey Golf which is 24 kilometres long by eight kilometres wide. This range is used to test air, ship and submarine-launched torpedoes, usually 500-800 each year. The federal government owns the land used for the range. The foreshore is owned by B.C. and used by the federal government under a sixty-year agreement signed in 1988. The Nanoose Bay seabed was also owned by British Columbia and leased to Ottawa.
