General Information
University Administration Rector: Matti Jakobsson Vice-Rector: Kauko Mikkonen Director of Administration: Eila Rekilä What is the University of Vaasa? The University of Vaasa is 4600 students, 380 personnel; four faculties and five different institutes: a research university where we study business, languages, culture and communication, social sciences, and technology. The University works in close cooperation with businesses and the municipality and regional officials in the Vaasa area. Each year the University enrols 700 new students. At the University of Vaasa, we work and study on a beautiful maritime campus which lies totally within the city limits of the City of Vaasa; and the campus milieu comprises parks along the water’s edge, modern architecture, and a renovated 19th-century factory complete with the owner’s mansion and the wooden workers’ housing, where students now live. This tightly-knit intellectual community, and the interesting curricula, along with intensive student guidance, contribute to rapid completion of degrees. And graduates of the University of Vaasa have no difficulty in finding jobs: in 2000, 76% of graduates earning a Master’sdegree found jobs immediately upon graduation. The University of Vaasa also supports flexible studies within the University as well as within other university-level education in the city of Vaasa, in Finland, and indeed all the universities of the world.

... Supply Chain Management Accounting Keeping tabs on the flow of money was once a simple matter of bookkeeping: accounts receivable in black ink and accounts payable in red. While companies still refer to the status of their economic health as being either "in the black" or "in the red," the process of money exchange has become so complex that the image of the backroom bookkeeper as single-handedly managing the company’s assets has been replaced by a multitude of accounting professionals at all levels of experience. Northeastern University's part-time programs in Accounting enable you to reach a higher level of professional development by going beyond basic core skills and providing you with an ability to operate and use information from computers, to explain complex financial data, to lead and supervise others, and to develop analytical and logical thinking.
