Contents DESCRIPTION Back To Top Widely recognized as one of the most comprehensive texts in the field, this practical, step-by-step introduction to criminal investigation gives students a logical framework for understanding the investigative process. Major sections cover current issues such as environmental crime, the looting of archaeological sites, videotaping of crime scenes, street gangs, and drugs. Now in its seventh edition, Criminal Investigation has been revised and updated, includes a new chapter, Crimes Against the Elderly (13), and continues to feature the latest investigative techniques and discussion of the latest technology. Case studies throughout the text emphasize the applied technique of criminal investigation, and its consistently praised art program including graphs, charts, and arresting photographs, depict the practical aspects of investigation and help to clarify difficult scientific concepts.

and field agent technical support Raleigh, NC and Or-Yehuda, Israel (March 21, 2002) - Mutek Solutions, Ltd., the leader in software solutions that improve reliability and availability of applications, today announced that Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation has selected its AppSight product technology. IRS Criminal Investigation will use AppSight to help its quality assurance testers and software developers find and prevent errors during the testing stages of their internal Windows application development process. Mutek's AppSight software provides deep insight into complex Web and distributed applications so organizations can rapidly identify and solve problems, often before they occur. AppSight locally or remotely attaches to live applications and records activities with no modifications to the applications themselves - no rebooting, no insertion of agents and no instrumentation code. AppSight creates a live, synchronized picture of activities at the user, system and code levels and analyzes the application in real-time. As a result, an organization such as IRS Criminal Investigation can solve the most time-consuming and complex aspect of fixing software problems: actually determining what needs to be fixed.

Datamaxx to Provide Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation with NCIC-2000 Compliant State-of-the-Art Communications System
Posted: 8/9/2002
Posted By: Contact: Gail Stansberry-Ziffer Phone: Email: gail@zmcc.com Tallahassee, Florida – (August 9, 2002) – Datamaxx Applied Technologies, Inc. (Datamaxx) announced it has signed a contract with the State of Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to replace the existing DCI mainframe message switch system with a NCIC-2000 compliant CPI Message Switch and state-of-the art Datamaxx Omnixx™ Force Desktop Browser Client application and a comprehensive client server message switching communications solution. The implementation of the re-engineered system will provide desktop browser-based network access hardware and software solutions plus the capability to easily add new interfaces as technology advances. Datamaxx and its business partner, Computer Projects of Illinois, Inc. (CPI), will provide CPI’s OpenFoxÔ Message Switching Application Software and Datamaxx’s Omnixx Force Desktop Browser Client application software for the implementation of the approximately $860,000 contract.
The message switch is used by the DCI to manage communications among criminal justice agencies on a 24/7 basis including transmission of criminal history information, arrest warrants, stolen property, vehicle registration and driver license checks, investigative lead requests and information regarding missing persons, terrorism alerts and warnings. The new message switch will allow the DCI and criminal justice agencies to take advantage of recent technology developments regarding transmission of digital images and provide greater flexibility to integrate with other criminal justice information systems including the FBI's NCIC 2000 system managed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This is the first major upgrade to the Wyoming law enforcement message switching system since 1990. The project will be completed by the end of the year.
