The Americans to Ban Cloning (ABC) coalition
is a group of concerned Americans and U.S. based organizations that promote a global, comprehensive ban on human cloning. ABC is now working to pass S. 245 , the Human Cloning Prohibition Act of 2003. This bill is a comprehensive cloning ban closely matching the one passed on February 27, 2003 by the U.S. House of Representatives (H.R. 534). The bill would outlaw both research and reproductive human cloning. Cartoons about clones, creatures, monsters and mutations who have escaped from a genetic engineering research laboratory and the Slightly Miffed Scientists who created them. Cloning Around " started life in the late 1980's as your typical "Genetic mutations escape from a college biochemistry laboratory" campus newspaper cartoon strip. It originally followed the standard three or four panel format, but over the years it has since mutated into a single panel cartoon for the most part. Every now and then it regresses to a multiple panel version. The characters aren't based on any particular person, they're just products of an especially fevered imagination. What would start out as random doodles would eventually take on a life of their own, becoming Clyde, Prof. Arnbuckle, The Sock Monster, et al. As you will notice, bad puns run rampant throughout the strip. Guilty as charged - but, I remain unre pun tant ;) If you find that there's a particular cartoon that you truly like, and want a hardcopy version of it for framing, or for using as the centerpiece for a dartboard, please contact me at Dave@CloningAround.com

Company Description
MCLAB (Molecular Cloning Laboratories) provides a full range of DNA cloning related services, including whole gene synthesis, DNA sequencing, protein expression, codon maximization, yeast two-hybrid screening and a variety of other cloning related services. MCLAB has recently launched a new line of competent E. coli cells, which can reduce the transformation time from 2 hours to 5 minutes! Now you can simply mix a tube of competent cells with your DNA, leave it at room temperature for 5 minutes and spread the cells directly onto the agar plate. You get the time savings and still yield the same results. Our molecular biology reagents also include the most efficient frozen competent yeast cells ever made, novel and traditional molecular cloning enzymes. All these items can be made to order in large quantities or can be customized to suit your, or your company's own needs. You are welcome to view our TOOLS section on the menu list. Our bio-informatics group has successfully developed a number of unique and powerful software programs to facilitate molecular biology research, for accuracy and efficiency. 50. Cloning African Violets
Consists of a classroom propagation article written by a teacher that emphasizes sterile techniques by tissue culture to generate an unlimited number of identical plants possessing a desired trait.

More information on Plant Tissue Culture
Mention cloning and many people think of a movie about 12 identical humans born as adults with telepathic abilities or The Boys from Brazil. But for plant scientists and horticulturists, cloning is hardly so sinister. The everyday practice of propagating plants with leaf cuttings is technically cloning, as are the venerable nursery techniques of grafting and taking stem cuttings.
Relatively new is the idea that single plant cells can, given the proper conditions, grow into stems, roots, and leaves – into whole new plants. Such tissue culture is commonly used to commercially propagate plants such as ferns, orchids, lilies, strawberries, and raspberries. This clonal propagation produces many genetically identical offspring in a short time.
With tissue culture, scientists can start with a plant that possesses the trait desired (whether that trait is disease resistance, high yield, or hardiness) and can generate quickly an unlimited number of identical plants possessing that trait. This is a crucial advantage in a world waiting for more nutritious, hardier, and more productive crops. Classroom propagation
In my activity, my students clone the African violet (Saintpaulia ionantha), a member of the Germinancae family. Tissue taken from a leaf is coaxed with hormones into forming buds, which eventually develop into plantlets complete with petioles and leaves. The African violet is our plant of choice because the number of plantlets formed during the cloning process is higher than most other plants [8]. Under ideal conditions, one leaf could be cultured and divided and cultured again into 5,000 to 8,000 small plantlets in only 8 to 14 weeks. To successfully clone African violets, you will need a laminar flow hood, biological containment hood, or aquarium, an autoclave or pressure cooker, long tweezers, cellophane wrap, bleach and liquid detergent, sterile petri dishes, and 70 percent ethanol. For each student, supply about four test tubes (25 x 150 mm), plastic caps or cotton, and some test tube racks.

web hosting domain names email addresses related sites Shezilla: The Cloning Project This was my very first Godzilla story...and EVERYONE likes it so far. Hey, Godzilla gets a GIRLFRIEND!!!(it's about damn time too! Poor guy's so lonely!) Authors note: First of all, Godzilla is not my creation. He is Tomoyuki Tanaka's creation; therefore, I am not making any money off of this story. I used the name Kenpachiro Satsuma to honor the man who played Godzilla in the Heisei series. Shezilla is my own creation, and any authors who wish to use her in future stories may do so. Just give me credit for creating her, OK? This is my first Godzilla fanfiction, so please be nice. If it makes you feel like crying, I did my job. Email me at cgh18@yahoo.com. Now, on with the story.
Shezilla: The Cloning Project
By Cyndi Hovinga
Kaijuologist Dr. Kenpachiro Satsuma peered intently into his microscope. Using special tools, he sliced a thin layer off of a chunk of leathery charcoal-gray flesh.
Very carefully, he placed the tissue sample under the microscope and switched to a higher magnification. There, he viewed the chromosomes, and was finally able to determine the actual sex of the creature called Godzilla. Bringing the chromosomes into focus, Kenpachiro found an X chromosome. Next to it was a Y chromosome. At last, the world would know…
Kenpachiro turned on the television screen beside the microscope so his colleagues could see.
