There is no substitute for the uninterrupted personal contact between teachers and students in the classroom. Even though students may make up classwork missed because of absences, they may never replace the full experience from face-to-face instruction and class participation. Students with good attendance generally achieve a higher level of learning than those with poor attendance. Students missing five days (excused or unexcused) per quarter may receive a failing grade for that grading period. Concerns should be discussed with administration.
Late Arrival - Early Check-Out
Students arriving to school late or needing to leave early must bring a written excuse signed by parent/guardian for our files. On the note please date and put full name of child and a phone number where parent/guardian can be reached. Notes to leave early are to be given to attendance when the student checks out. In certain situations it may be necessary for the parent/guardian to call. That call must be followed as soon as possible with a written excuse signed and dated by the parent/guardian.
Written Excuses
After a student has been absent, he/she should bring a written excuse with their full name and absence date signed by the parent/guardian stating the cause. If no note is presented, the absence is unexcused. Please have your doctors write notes for absences caused by appointments. All written excuses and doctor notes are filed for future reference.

The 16th Annual School Club Roundup: 2002
By Lew Malchick, N2RQ
Introduction
School Club Roundup (SCR) is sponsored by the Council for the Advancement of Amateur Radio in the New York City Schools (CAAR/NYCS), the ARRL and its Hudson Division Education Task Force to foster contacts with and among school radio clubs. The SCR is a great way to get young operators on the air. Very often a new operator will be intimidated by the fear of not knowing what to say to the stranger on the other side of the radio. The exchange info helps to overcome this fear in a low pressure contest format. Operators are encouraged to take some time to chat beyond the contest exchange.
