http://www.brookdale.org/gen_info.html
The Brookdale Center on Aging of Hunter College is now the largest university-based gerontology center in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) and the Northeast. World renowned for over 25 years, The Brookdale Center on Aging is considered "a jewel in the crown" of Hunter College's many academic enrichment programs. Located in the heart of New York City in The Grace Building on 6th Avenue and 42nd Street, The Brookdale Center on Aging's multidisciplinary team of social workers, nurses, lawyers, educators and ethicists provides training and technical assistance to staff at all levels within the aging network. Additionally, the Center helps non-aging agencies and businesses with their concerns for older clients, older workers or caregiver employees. To promote careers in aging, The Brookdale Center on Aging works closely with secondary schools, colleges and professional schools using training and technical assistance projects at the national, state and local level. With academic rigor, The Center addresses issues and problems relating to aging in the United States and instructs those seeking careers in the field. However, the Center is more than a think tank and more than a training ground for careers in gerontology. From its inception in 1974, the Brookdale Center on Aging has tested theories and approaches by translating them into programs which the Center operates and supervises. This unique blend of theory and practice has made the Brookdale Center on Aging one of the largest gerontology centers in the United States; many of its programs have been replicated throughout the country.
