Drew Edmondson, Attorney General Don't Call Enforcement to Begin Oklahomans who registered for the attorney general's Don't Call program should see a drop in telemarketing calls beginning tomorrow, Attorney General Drew Edmondson said today. "Feb. 1 is the day telemarketers who purchased the Don't Call list must stop calling the numbers on the registry," Edmondson said. "We can begin prosecuting violations of the Telemarketer Restriction Act tomorrow." More than 436,000 telephone numbers are on the registry and 180 telemarketers, including 14 from Oklahoma, have purchased the list. Tomorrow's enforcement date applies only to consumers who registered their telephone numbers with the attorney general before Dec. 1. Telemarketing companies who do not adhere to the new statute can be found in violation of the state's Consumer Protection Act, Edmondson said.
