The beautiful and graceful Viennese waltz continues to thrill dancers today. Its tempo is 60 beats per minute, which means that a pair of dancers take 180 steps and make 30 complete turns every 60 seconds! In this very special course, held in the exquisite Victorian Rotunda of the Arts and Industries Building, participants learn to dance the rechtswalzer (waltz to the right), the linkswalzer (waltz to the left), and the hesitation step used to make smooth changes of direction. They learn the origins of the Wiener walzer in the landler, as well as the polka, gallop, and quadrille that are danced at Viennese balls today. Participants also learn how to deal with the physical demands of the waltz, such as dizziness, and the elements of ball etiquette, such as the traditional

KU dancer returns to area to perform, teach
LAWRENCE - University of Kansas dance student Christine Colby-Jacques has a connection to the Broadway hit "Fosse" that surpasses her role in the show's national tour - the former Rockette studied under late choreographer Bob Fosse himself more than 20 years ago. Now Colby-Jacques, who is on leave from her studies at KU to perform with the musical's national touring company, is returning to the area for shows Aug. 22 to 27 at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, Mo. She also will teach master dance classes in Lawrence and Kansas City during her stay. "I saw Christine perform in 'Fosse' in Chicago; she's featured in several numbers and she's terrific," says Janet Hamburg, KU dance professor. "Christine is an intelligent and talented dance student," Hamburg says, pointing to Colby-Jacques' receipt of the Joan and Bernie Levine Dance Scholarship. "Her professional experience makes her a wonderful role model for the other students." Colby-Jacques uses that experience as a teacher as well as a student. In fact, it was the master classes she's taught throughout her professional career that led her to KU.

What Students Should Learn In Their First Year
On Choosing to Teach Have you done any teaching before, even other subjects? If you have, you already know that teaching and doing are two very different sets of skills... being a good dancer is not the same thing as being a good teacher. You've landed on one of my pet subjects, so there's quite a bit here, probably more than you wanted to know. If you have specific questions beyond this, don't hesitate to contact me. Here are some things to think about as you prepare to teach: Most important: make sure your knowledge of technique, posture, stretching, warm-ups and cool-downs is current, complete and SAFE.

Dear Students and Families,
We at the Alabama Ballet continue to be overwhelmed by the interest and enthusiastic support for the Alabama Ballet School. There has been a tremendous amount of growth over the past 3 years after moving into our state of the art facility located in historic Lakeview. The Alabama Ballet School provides the highest quality training to aspiring artists of all ages that is developmentally appropriate, physically and artistically.
Our comprehensive curriculum has been designed in consultation with Ruth Petrinovic, teacher trainer, who returns each summer for a comprehensive workshop for all our instructors - both new and old. Our goal is now and will always be - to provide the highest quality training with a positive emphasis on technique and artistry to our students. Thank you again for all of the support you have shown the Alabama Ballet and for your continued interest in the Alabama Ballet School.

TEMECULA "Voices are off," Sharon Constantino told her second graders as she took her place at the front of the class, having exchanged her dress loafers for tap dancing shoes. "All right, toe taps point front, side, together, and don't forget to smile. Dancing is about stage presence. Be confident." And the pint-sized chorus line of 18 Temecula Learning Center students began tap dancing, some with more charm then grace, as Constantino coached them along.

Fathers, Teach Your Daughters How to Dance He held it in his hand, suppose I watched? Then, up and down, he stroked. I froze. I watched. They danced as if a couple learning steps. His hand, the feet; the head, her toes. I watched. The rhythm shuffled, hurried, he went faster. His member stood erect, in pose, I watched. I saw a substance spray from him like water. It shot onto his chest, his clothes, I watched. My father stood up breathless, then he saw. "Hey, Steph, come here and sit." It rose. I watched.

Dance Jobs in ballet - Die Job Börse
A place to dance
Written by - Geschrieben von Emanuel at / am 31 Dec 2001 13:31:20: would you like to teach ballet to an adult (male, bi, 35y young, 182cm, 69kg, German)?
I am still a beginner (I took some lessons a few years ago) and I want to dance ballet in a very private workshop during my holidays (3-7 days).
I don’t care if you are male or female, ballet-student or ballet-instructor, employed or unemployed, bi or straight, young or old! But I prefer a very strict way of teaching. Perfect discipline and as many repetitions as necessary – you should have fun when you see me as your private student. Of course I will pay for the lessons. And if you can accommodate I will pay the same price I would have to pay for a small hotel/b+b.
I speak German but I would like to get my lessons from an English or Spanish speaking person (native) – for this case I would spend my holidays also all around Europe/USA.
