Stamps in 1996
Art and culture, sport and nature. These were some of the themes of stamp issues in 1996 when Post Denmark issued 23 special stamps and two daily series stamps. Copenhagen's status as City of Culture was marked in the first stamp issue of the year. Four stamps whose motifs showed that Copenhagen had transformed and everything might happen. The Round Tower was turned into a music box, Christiansborg, the Parliamentary Building, was flying sky high, the Marble Church drifted like a balloon and the Little Mermaid went on stage. 1996 was a giant year for sports events. The National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation celebrated its 100th anniversary, the Danish Sports Organisation for the Disabled celebrated its 25th anniversary, the European championship was held in men's football and women's handball and finally, and most important, the Olympic Games in Atlanta. These events determined the issue of the four stamps with sports motifs. Renowned women established the theme of the EUROPA print, with motifs of Karen Blixen and the former Danish actress Asta Nielsen.

Abstract
The Danish blue-chip index - the KFX Index - provides an interesting case for studying the effects of changes in a stock market index. This is because of the unique selection criterion used for the composition of the KFX Index. The criterion is pub- licly known and based on a combination of liquidity and market value of the stock. Consistent with the selection criterion, the stock price effects are generally small at the announcement of a change and at the later date when the change comes into effect. However, the deleted stocks experience an abnormal return averaging Publisher Info Paper provided by Copenhagen Business School, Department of Finance in its series Working Papers with number 2002-2. Quick Facts on U.S.- Danish Trade Denmark is a highly industrialized country in Northern Europe with a long tradition of extensive foreign trade, free capital movement, and political stability. It also has an efficient and well-educated work force, and a modern infrastructure, which effectively links Denmark with the rest of Europe. Denmark’s geographic location, on a peninsula north of Germany, with coastlines on both the North and Baltic Seas, serves to make the country a major hub in the distribution of goods and resources throughout both Northern and Eastern Europe as well as to the Baltic States. Denmark is open to foreign investment, and is home to approximately 250 subsidiaries of U.S. companies. Denmark also welcomes firms seeking a stable political and economic environment in which companies wishing to do business in the former Eastern Bloc countries may base their operations.
